Rafa Benitez discusses Mario Balotelli Napoli transfer rumours

Italians not interested in the 24-year-old…

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has rubbished claims that he’s interested in signing Mario Balotelli in January, reports respected Italian football journalist Gianluca di Marzio.

Rumours were circulating that the Italian giants were keen on bringing the striker back to his home country, but the Napoli boss has totally dismissed the reports.

“Absolutely nothing, it is a hypothesis that I never considered,” the Spaniard said, when asked about the possibility of signing Balotelli.

The forward is now back in Liverpool, having been sent home from international duty after picking up a hamstring injury.

Thankfully, the issue is not as bad as first feared, and Balotelli should be available for our next Premier League fixture, versus Crystal Palace.

If he does make it back in time, there’s a chance he could start up top alongside Daniel Sturridge, who is also returning from injury.

We’ve missed Sturridge enormously, and Balotelli will be equally glad he’s back, with arguably his best performance so far for the Reds coming against Tottenham, when he started alongside the Englishman.
