Rodgers is determined to overcome Liverpool’s difficult start to the season…

Whether you consider Brendan Rodgers’ position as Liverpool manager to be under pressure or not, he is most certainly in need of some positive results to quieten the doubters.

Thankfully, the fiery Reds boss has declared that he will not back away from what he describes as his biggest managerial challenge yet. On the contrary, he shares the pain of Kop fans after a difficult start to the season.

Reports in the Daily Mirror carry quotes from Rodgers, who has seen his team slip to 11th in the table – just five points above the relegation zone – after finishing the previous campaign as Premier League runners-up.

The source details Rodgers acceptance that he must take full responsibility for an “adverse moment”. Despite injuries to key players and the problems of integrating nine new signings, the Northern Irishman has vowed to find a solution that will get the Reds back to the top.

When asked if this was his biggest test so far, he replied: “Yes. Absolutely. There’s no getting away from that. I don’t like to whine or complain or make excuses.

“We’ve had the whole integration of a lot of new players and obviously it’s not gone as well as we would have wanted, there’s no doubt about that. But we have to embrace that challenge.

“We are in an adverse moment but that can make you stronger when you come out the other side. So now we have to regroup.”
