Potential Simon Mignolet replacement set to snub Liverpool

Wonderkid keeper set to extend deal with Bundesliga club…

Timo Horn is likely to reject rumoured Liverpool interest in favour of signing a new contract with his current club FC Koln, reports German newspaper express.de.

The 21-year-old is a starter in the Bundesliga, and rated as one of the most talented young stoppers in Europe right now, along with Italian duo Mattia Perin and Simone Scuffet.

As a result of Horn’s excellent performances in 2014/15, and the shaky form of our current no.1 Simon Mignolet, we’d been linked with a potential January move for Horn, but the player himself would prefer to extend his deal with his boyhood club.

“I have said it more than once: I am in talks with FC Koln [regarding a  contract]. I want to sign on with my club.”

His agent, Volker Struth, added: “We have been told about those rumours. However, no one contacted us directly.”

Horn has played for Germany at seven different youth levels, and is the current starter for the Under-21 side. His chances of earning caps for the senior side look pretty slim at the moment, but only because the world’s best keeper by a country mile, Manuel Neuer, currently stands between the sticks.

As well as Horn, we’ve been linked to Neto, Perin, Guillermo Ochoa and Kike Casilla, but it’s not yet known whether we’ll even look to replace Mignolet anyway.
