Daniel Sturridge remains optimistic about Liverpool’s season despite Sunday’s latest defeat…

Sidelined Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge remains optimistic about the club turning around the current run of poor form, and hopes his return will help push the Reds back up the table.

Reports in the Daily Mirror carry quotes from the England international, who was tweeting after watching his side’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Sturridge hasn’t played for Liverpool since they won 3-0 at Tottenham in August, and his absence has severely debilitated Brendan Rodgers’ side, who have won just six of the 21 games they have played without him.

The striker suffered his latest injury setback last month when he had a recurrence of the thigh problem in training when he was due to return against Crystal Palace.

But Sturridge, who has scored 36 goals in 52 games for Liverpool since his £12m move to Anfield from Chelsea in January 2013, remains positive ahead of his possible return in the New Year:
