Spanish journalists argue ‘£50m Benzema to Liverpool’ rumours – Balague rubbishes Esteban suggestion

Benzema won’t be joining us in January, despite farcical claims…

Spanish football journalist Manuel Esteban reckons Karim Benzema is available, but Guillem Balague has rubbished his farcical claims…

Esteban reckons that because Real Madrid want to sign both Sergio Aguero and Marco Reus, the French forward will soon be surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.

“Benzema is on thin ice. If they receive a big bid, they will not be hesitant,” he said.

“The dream is to combine Kun Aguero, Marco Reus and Cristiano Ronaldo, who would become the best front line in the world of football.”

Esteban’s comments led the Daily Star to link us with a monstrous £50m bid, but Balague, who is a far well known and more trusted source, has refuted them.

“Totally impossible that Benzema leaves Madrid in January. Essential to the team and a president favourite. The club has confirmed that too,” he Tweeted today as speculation began to increase.

Sadly for us, it seems that Balague’s quotes are to be trusted. Benzema has played a key role in Real’s 20 consecutive victories this season, scoring 14 goals in total and providing eight assists, too.

He’s vital to their style, and enables Cristiano Ronaldo the space in which the Portuguese megastar thrives. With Real on course to win a barrel of trophies this season – why would they sell their starting centre-forward in January…?
