It’s done. Gerrard has signed for LA Galaxy…

LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena has announced that his MLS franchise will be signing Steven Gerrard at the end of the season…

The player will sign on a Bosman free, having chosen not to extend his contract with us. The deal will be for £76k-per-week for 18 months, and will begin in July.

Arena is naturally delighted that our legendary captain has agreed to join…

“We have a club now with a proven history of success. All of these things go hand in hand in making LA Galaxy a very attractive team for players such as Steven Gerrard.

“Steven Gerrard arrives in July and by then we will certainly have a plan available. He’s a player of quality. I’m not concerned about where he’s going to fit in to our team.”

Gerrard has also confirmed the move, and claimed he’ll be hungry for success when he moves to America.

“The time’s right for me and my family for the change, for the fresh challenge. I’ve been here for a long time, I’ve given an awful lot back to this club,” he said.

“But I now I [sic] feel it is time for a fresh break and to try something different.

“I want to finish my career very strong. I want to add some more medals and trophies to my collection. So I think it’s a match made in heaven, really.”

Most Liverpool fans will be devastated by the news, especially considering the fact that Gerrard has admitted he’d have signed an extension with us had he been offered it in the summer…

He wasn’t, and the rest, as they say, is history.
