Done deal: Liverpool offload flop to the UAE for £4.7m

The agent of Mario Balotelli, Mino Raiola, has explained that while his client is not doing well at Liverpool, he reckons he has the ability to eventually make a success of himself at Anfield…

As has become constantly repeated football fact, the Italian 24-year-old has yet to score for us in the Premier League, and rumours that he’ll be loaned back to Serie A have surfaced as a result.

Raiola though thinks Balotelli should be praised for behaving (largely?) off the field, and thinks that in time, he’ll prove he was worth the £16m we shelled out on him.

“Balotelli is not doing well, but must remain calm and work hard. Nobody questions his qualities and I am not worried,” the agent said, reported in the Mirror.

“Now you do not hear talk of his private life and this is already a big improvement.

“We forget that he had an injury that kept him still for long and until he’s 100 per cent, we will not be able to judge. It’s not easy to go abroad and fit in a sports project, you need time.”

Since the injury he picked up at the start of November, Brendan Rodgers hasn’t given Balotelli a single start in any competition – and even went with the much less talented Fabio Borini against Sunderland on Saturday.

Currently, it doesn’t look like Rodgers rates Balotelli at all, even though his substitute appearances have been mostly promising. We next fact Aston Villa at the weekend, and the former Inter, Man. City and AC Milan man will likely remain on the bench.
