£20m attacker thinks hard work is the key…

Serbian attacker Lazar Markovic has shown some very promising form in recent weeks, and the summer signing reckons the team’s run of positive results is because the squad has had time to gel.

Markovic bagged the winner against Sunderland last time out, making it five wins from seven in all competitions.

“I think in the second half of the season we can go a long way and achieve a lot,” the 20-year-old explained to Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s very important to have confidence and belief. I’ve got that in the club and the players, for sure. [It is down to] hard work and a bit of luck.

“But I think it’s more the hard work. We have got to know each other a lot more and have clicked quite well. We’ll get better and better.”

While they struggled for game-time early on this campaign, summer signings such as Markovic, Emre Can and Alberto Moreno have been playing consistently recently – and they’ve started to prove they were perhaps astute buys after all.

This, combined with the significant improvement of Martin Skrtel, Lucas, Jordan Henderson and Coutinho (to name but a few), has enabled us to go unbeaten since the defeat at Manchester United mid-December.

We’re five points off fourth placed Manchester United, but have a League Cup semi-final doubler-header with Chelsea to look forward to this January, as well as a winnable 4th round FA Cup fixture with Bolton.
