Liverpool reject Parma’s loan offer for Mario Balotelli

The captain has been working tirelessly to recover from the hamstring injury he picked up against Sunderland just over a week ago, and he missed the weekend victory over Aston Villa as a result.

He’s now expected to come straight back into the lineup however, although not in his natural central midfield position – as Lucas and Jordan Henderson have been performing excellently there.

This means our 34-year-old skipper will take a spot in the front three, meaning Fabio Borini should drop to the bench, and Raheem Sterling will take up the central striking role.

So far this season, Gerrard’s notched nine times in all competitions, and is our top scorer – although most of these have been from either penalties or free-kicks.

Gerrard will be especially desperate to help us pick up a good result tonight, as it represents his best chance of collecting a final trophy with us before he departs to the MLS in the summer.
