Steven Gerrard will make his 700th appearance for Liverpool when his side take on Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup on Wednesday, after missing out on the milestone against West Ham United this weekend.

Gerrard was rested from the 2-0 win against the Hammers at Anfield after playing the full 120 minutes in the Capital One Cup tie against Chelsea the previous Tuesday.

Thankfully, the Reds skipper won’t have to wait much longer to reach the landmark. Gerrard will be only the third player in our club’s history to reach 700 games, following on from Jamie Carragher and Ian Callaghan.

“It’s an incredible achievement and I’m not sure it will happen again,” said Rodgers, who was quoted by Liverpool’s official website.

“It will take some achievement by any player to do that again.

“His life and journey here have been remarkable and you see how committed and focused he still is. It is absolutely incredible and there are more appearances to come.”
