Will Lovren keep his place in the side…?
Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren, making his first start of 2015 yesterday, has lauded our result against his former club Southampton.
We won 2-0, and despite being booed throughout the 90 minutes, Lovren helped us pick up another clean-sheet – our fifth consecutively on the Premier League road.

“It was an amazing win. It was a tough game for us and we knew when we arrived here that it would be difficult,” he began.
“It’s a massive three points for us, now we’re a step closer to the top four. We did a great job. We have massive talent and we can go higher and higher, because everyone is so young.
“With the talent and youth, I think we can achieve whatever we want, whatever we imagine. We just need to work hard and give our best on the pitch.”
Individually, Lovren’s endured a largely miserable season since making his £20m switch from the Saints, and lost his place in the side around Christmas time – with Frenchman Mamadou Sakho favoured in recent fixtures. However, with Sakho injured and unavailable yesterday, Lovren came back into the XI, and despite being a little nervy in possession, he did pretty well.
There’s no word on Sakho’s injury yet – and although it probably isn’t serious – Brendan Rodgers has proven in the past that he won’t drop players in-form – meaning Lovren has a chance to make the position his own.
We next face Besiktas on Thursday, before a crunch Premier League fixture at home to Manchester City at the weekend.
