Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has lavished praise on manager Brendan Rodgers for turning things around after a difficult start to the season, claiming that the boss has “solved everything”.

The Reds have lost just one of their last 18 competitive fixtures, and that came after extra time against Chelsea. We have also closed the gap on the Premier League’s top four to just two points – seven less than in December.
Lovren, who was quoted by the Daily Mirror, said: “The basis from the start is that we are together. We are always like a team, in bad times and also in good times.
“The first couple of months didn’t go so well, but now you can see the real shape of the team. Everything has settled down and the manager has solved everything. The bad times are behind us.
“I always say, it’s not the four or five at the back who are about the defence, it is the whole team. A clean sheet is because of all of the players, from the strikers to the goalkeeper.
“Everyone is involved. We haven’t conceded in the last couple of games, so we need to continue like this by defending and attacking together.”
Having only played a bit-part role in Rodgers’ new-look 3-4-3 formation, Lovren returned to the Liverpool side for the game against his former club Southampton on Sunday.
The Croatian’s performance in the 2-0 win helped ensure our fifth successive clean sheet away from home, the first time we have reached that milestone since 1985.
“1985?” he added. “Wow. It’s definitely a proud achievement. It’s been a long, long time since I heard something like this, so of course it is great to be a part of the team.
“In the last two-and-a-half to three months we’ve been doing so, so well, we’ve taken so many points. We are proud, but we must not stop here. We need to continue like this, work hard and focus on each game so we are confident.”
Lovren has endured his fair share of criticism since his £20m move last summer, but will be hoping that he can now return to holding down a regular starting spot. With Mamadou Sakho still sidelined through injury, he will likely get the nod for Thursday’s Europa League match against Besiktas.
