Allen played a key role in our title challenge last term, but he’s been often criticised this season for some uninspiring central midfield displays.
However, Allen’s Sunday lunchtime show displayed his talent, and hopefully the 24-year-old can continue to put in solid midfield performances in the absence of Lucas and Steven Gerrard.
“He’s one of the first players I wanted to bring in here,” began Rodgers.
His performance yesterday was incredible really. He’s got so much courage to get on the ball. Joe’s the type of player who needs to be playing regularly for his qualities to be seen. He allows other players to receive the ball. He’s an outstanding player, and he’ll show that over his years here.”
“I think with Joe it’s been difficult. He’s been injured this year and that’s curtailed his ability. We paid £15m for him and I believe that was great value for us. He’s a player I rate immensely highly.”
