The Slovakian fell awkwardly after a clash with Rovers striker Rudy Gestede last Sunday, and was taken off the field on a stretcher before visiting a local hospital for a final check-over.

Rodgers confirmed after the match that Skrtel was ‘fine’, while the defender himself took to social media website Instagram to confirm his well-being.

In his latest update on the situation, Rodgers added: “Martin had the injury where he had to come off against Blackburn, so all the procedures, in terms of his gradual integration into the group is fine, so he should be available.

“But we’ll monitor that again to make sure that everything is safe and secure with his wellness to play in the game, but he should be fine.”

The Kop boss, who was quoted by our official website, also revealed that both Jose Enrique and Jon Flanagan are back in training. Speaking about the pair he said: “Jose Enrique has been in and out of training, so we’ll monitor him over the next couple of games.

“Great news – young Jon Flanagan is back and training with the group, which is great, but again we’re just having to gradually introduce him into the training.”

Flanagan has been out with a keen injury since the start of the season, and has failed to play a single minute of the current campaign.

Rodgers closed by confirming that both Steven Gerrard and Joe Allen should be fit to travel with the squad to Wales. He said: “We had Steven back training, which is great. Joe Allen is back and fit and well, so the [injured players] are starting to return.”
