Liverpool transfer rumours

The FA released a brief statement on Sturridge’s fitness on their official website, explaining that after a scan, the 25 year-old has returned to Liverpool.

It is not yet known how long the striker will be ruled out of action, but as well as England’s UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania on March 27th and a friendly against Italy on March 31st, this surely puts his participation for us against Arsenal on Saturday April 4th in doubt.

Sturridge scored three times for England in 2014, including the equaliser in the Three Lions’ 2-1 loss to Italy in their World Cup opener.

With Adam Lallana having already pulled out of the squad, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling are the only Reds players left in the squad.

Sturridge’s season has been highly disrupted by injury, having sustained a thigh muscle strain in September on his last trip with England. A setback with his hamstring meant he was not seen in a Reds shirt between August and January.
