The 22-year-old, who joined us from Inter Milan in January 2013, has scored 13 goals in 88 games since his £8.5m switch from Italy, and has won three player of the month awards so far this term.
He’s chipped in with crucial goals against the likes of Arsenal, Southampton and Manchester City, and has made a habit of scoring stunning individual strikes, on top of everything else he brings to the team.
The dynamic forward plays a crucial role in Brendan Rodgers’ 3-4-3 system, playing alongside Raheem Sterling or Adam Lallana in the attacking midfield pairing, most recently behind central striker Daniel Sturridge.
The ‘Little Magician’ is now aiming to finish this season on a high, by firing us to both a top four finish and the final of the FA Cup, which could see him pick up his first winners medal.
Speaking about his future plans, in quotes taken by the Daily Express, he said: “I want to be part of the Brazilian national team, to be playing, to be a great player and win titles, this is the most important thing.
“It’s what makes you become an idol in the club. This is what marks the club. I have this ambition, this goal of participating and winning titles.”
Asked about how he’s settled in England over the last two years, he added: “When I arrived here all players welcomed me really well.
“The city too, the people here are very cheerful, sympathetic, everything helped me when I arrived. Lucas and his wife were always there to help us. At the time there were also Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates, who spoke Spanish.”
