Could Jose Luis ‘Kuki’ Zalazar become the latest young talent to join Liverpool’s academy…?

Spanish daily Marca reckon that, along with Chelsea and Manchester City, we are considering making a transfer offer for hugely talented Malaga prospect Jose Luis ‘Kuki’ Zalazar, who has a £4.3m release-clause.

Zalazar is 16-years-old, but the report claims that he could be part of the Spanish side’s first-team as early as next season.

He plays as an attacker, and has thrived in youth football – currently representing the Spanish Under-17 side, too. The wonderkid was born in Uruguay, and is the son of 29-cap midfielder Jose Luis Zalazar senior – and there is already a tug-of-war at international level over his future services…

Liverpool have consistently poached young talent from La Liga, with players such as Sergi Canos and Pedro Chirivella currently representing our academy sides.

In the past, Dani Pacheco and Suso progressed into the first-team, but neither of them could cement a place in match-day squads, and have since moved to pastures new.

In fact, none of the youth recruits from Spain have ever properly made the grade, with Gerardo Bruna and Godwin Antwi other noticeable examples – although Mikel San Jose and Antonio Barragan have formed solid La Liga careers since departing Merseyside.
