But the omens look good…

Aston Villa have won the toss for the FA Cup semi-final and will be classed as the home team for the tie, to be played at the neutral venue of Wembley Stadium.

That means if Liverpool can beat Blackburn at Ewood Park in the replay a week on Wednesday they will have to contend the match with Villa in their away strip and in the away dressing room, reports Liverpool Echo.

Meanwhile, Villa will wear their Claret and Blue kits whilst using the facilities normally used by the England national side.

But before supporters start feeling nervous, there is hope and a good omen of sorts. Liverpool defeated Villa in their FA Cup semifinal at Old Trafford in 1996 in their away strip and managed a 3-0 win.

Though they first have to get to the last four and Liverpool will have to be at their best and try not to get affected by a ravenous Ewood Park crowd. Reports from local paper the Lancashire Telegraph state Rovers look set for a sell-out against us, with more than 26,000 tickets already sold.

The Reds will certainly have to do better than the disappointing 0-0 draw at Anfield earlier this month with Blackburn – no matter what the result at Arsenal is this coming weekend.

As important as the top four race is, the FA Cup remains our only chance of a trophy this term, and the if we can get through to the semi-finals, the Gunners look like our biggest obstacle for the cup.
