Daniel Sturridge was one of the first Liverpool players to celebrate tonight’s victory on social media, posting a short Twitter message less than hour after the full-time whistle against Blackburn Rovers.

Philippe Coutinho scored the only goal at Ewood Park in an impressive all round performance from the Reds, one that will come as a huge relief to players and supporters alike after a difficult run of results.

Sturridge had a quiet evening as the focal point of the attack but will be pleased to have got another 85 minutes under his belt on his comeback from injury.

The 25-year-old missed the recent England games against Lithuania and Italy due to a hip problem and was only used as a substitute against Arsenal last weekend.

However, he was in from the start tonight and was only replaced late on by Rickie Lambert, as the Reds opted for a more aerially dominating target man in the closing stages.
