It’s beginning to look a lot like Prem Season!

Welcome back to me!
It has been since Christmas since I last posted, and I have to tell you, that is just far too long. Though I am sure that anyone that reads my stuff has missed me terribly. :)
So much talk about the owners, our dismal 7th place finish, Rafa out the door, etc. etc. that has made us all rue this past calendar year. I know I have had plenty to say, as many of the loyal Reds supporters have, but most everything that I was thinking was said by other writers on the blog; and quite well at that.
But watching the second leg of the Europa League tie with FC Rabotnicki made me realize something: we aren’t in as bad of shape as we first feared. Granted, it wasn’t a full squad, we played minnows from Macedonia, rabble rabble rabble. To see how well new signing Joe Cole looked, along with Pacheco getting the nerves out in his first senior squad match, and seeing Ngog play very inspiring football, was wonderful to say the least. I am looking quite positively on the near future; not just a few seasons down the road.
Roy’s intent on working some of the younger, promising players in the senior squad has been great, and quite refreshing as our former gaffer didn’t seem too keen on it.
I wouldn’t go as far to say we are world beaters, or that our squad at this point can run through the Prem, BUT we are definitely in spectacular shape compared to May, and I think it’s only going to get better.
New ownership looks to be in place before the end of the transfer window, finally getting rid of that debt and our sorry excuses for owners. A quick injection of cash and a couple quick transfers before the ‘silly season’ is all said and done, well, it might just be exactly what we need.
The only thing that we can hope for that is out of everyone’s control, is injuries. Those killed us more than any other issue last season. And with a deeper, more experienced, and (hopefully) healthier squad, we should be in for quite the treat this year.
Don’t lose faith, fellow Reds supporters (not that I would ever doubt the greatest fanbase in the world), but it looks like we are going nowhere but up.
Cheers!

Fake twitter accounts have always been a hilarious atmosphere, but with our beloved club in the mix, the humor can only get better. I have made a short list of some relevant fake twitter accounts.

Pride vs Points
| By Chris Grant · Comments |
I seldom post many articles this season due to a busy personal schedule, but I have also made time to vent my thoughts and fears whenever the occasion has deemed too big.
What can we say of this season? What summary could I put in place to describe this to my son in 10 years time? An occurring motto of ”It can’t get any worse” has been uttered as an empty remedy after every upset this season, only to be used again in a tragic fashion. We have witnessed two European attempts crushed in a horrible fashion, but we walked on. We witnessed our domestic half-hearted attempts disappear, but we walked on. We witnessed loosing more league games in our opener of the season than we did all of last season, but we are still walking on.
Today is a simple matter of Pride vs Points. We win, our historic barrier is broken by our worst enemy, and we have a slim chance of securing slim pickings for the higher parts of the league table. We loose, we are stuck in non-European depths, but we will still maintain our League record ( for now )
If we loose, a nice proposition for incoming players to a club that all that has to offer is its pride, history, and fans that’ll shout your name for the rest of your life. This seems a nicer offering to me, but we had a hard time in the past attracting players with all the media spewing of the Owners, Rafa, and the teams performance. Imagine so with no opportunity for European Honours?
Perhaps if we do loose, we may have our best chance of winning a domestic trophy with no over-seas distractions. That is a warming yet sickening thought, but that is the dark scenario we have had in front of us for a while now.
Either way the outcome of today, whatever personal set of positives you have graphed for today’s fixture, we will walk on.
Last game at Anfield this season, against Chelsea. Are we going to lie down? Not a chance in blue flamed hell. Are we going to gift wrap the title? Perhaps, but its old news that the scum need others to do them a favour to enhance their success.
Chelsea are going to fight for their title, and more power to them. But if they do not want it as bad as we do not want to loose.
I will follow this club into League Two, with the worst players in the world, with a senile old manager, and still shout their names because of the crest they wear.
Ladies and Gentlemen, if you are hoping for Pride or Points today, just remember, that no matter the outcome, we will walk on.
Don’t walk alone for 2010

Liverpool FC fans, these past few months have been horrible on the pitch and in the press box. This club itself has gone through horrific tragedies, fighting for justice every day. A lot of global support flooded in for the boys to the EOTK twitter account. Lets take that a step further, not to show the rest of the footballing world, but to show ourselves that the belief of unity is still amongst Anfield. If you choose not to put on the twibbon, RT the link, post it on your facebook page, post it on your blog, tell your granny about it.
This club has been through too much to see a bad spell in-game tarnish the character and the way of LFC. Lets get behind one another with support and belief, not in front with accusations.
Show your support, unite for the upcoming year. Together, we shall get through whatever comes our way.

United’s Record at Anfield
| By Chris Grant · Comments |
As a fan, as any fan, we hold our records in pride, but I hope that tomorrow we can improve our record in tackling United at Anfield. We had two great games against them last year, but that was last year, this is now. Lets have a look at some of the stats,
Premier League Liverpool v Man Untied @ Anfield Stats
17 Games
Liverpool Wins: 5
Man United Wins: 9
Draws: 3
A win tomorrow will close the gap of 4 points between ourselves and United, yet also improve this record.
Amount of Goals
Liverpool: 23
Man United: 25
Disturbing goal tally compared to the win records, mainly of which that consist of Man United winning on 1 – 0 games, quite typically a late goal. They will of course be striving for that early goal like last year, but we have the quality to reply to that, and hopefully grab the opener for ourselves, and built upon that, not sit back and defend, build on that lead.
Tomorrow is the 18th Premier League meeting against United at Anfield, 18 seems to be a recurring topic amongst us and them quite recently, all the more hype for the game.
If there was ever any opportunity for Liverpool to bounce back on form, tommorrow will be the most sweetest opportunity. We may lose, we may draw, or hopefully win, but what I will be wishing to see, is a hungry and passionate performance. I know that myself, and the rest of us will not be disappointed tomorrow. If it takes a big game to raise our game, then bring it on.
