how many side backs have we had the 5 last years???

risse?
finnan?
aurelio?
warnock?
traore?
kromkamp?
josemi?
abel xavier?... oh well

they're too many!!!!!!!!!

how many do we have now on the first squad?

degen
dossena
johnson
insua
fabio aurelio
darby

which of them are a solid choice fot the starting lineup?
??????
you tell me please...

thats the problem it's been 5 years since rafa joined and our side defence it's always an enigma....
our centre backs don't shine either...
skrtel's performance has been very irregular, we can't afford to loose more money/time looking for the next hyypia. it's a shame agger's luck qith injuries sucks so bad. he and carragher, are the only centerdefs i trust.
i could talk about the midfield also but alonso was a solid starter and i can bet aquilani (working very hard with steve g) can bring back that unbreakeble midfield we once had..
about the attackers.. no one has any doubts about torres, i dont have any doubts about kuyt and benayoun despite their not massive scorers BUT babel's, riera's, voronin's irregular performances give no comfort in the absence of el niño.
there have been too many players come and gone, and they keep coming, with no impact on the team...

if you take a look at 'past players' section here: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/team/past_players/
the number of former players has increased in the last decades!!

my point is:

a team that varies its players on such short notice will never reach the supremacy liverpool once had, by contrast, it will generate only sporadic success.

I am not one of the rafa haters and he was hamstrung from the start with regards to being able to make the subs he would have liked. The tactical sub he did make at the end was not a bad one as Aurelio gave us some width(but did take some poor set peices)
The problem was the mentality after we went 1 nil up. we were like deer in the head lights after we scored that goal. All of a sudden we were sitting back and the goal was coming when it did. We seemed to be doing a more man marking job for the corner so it was easier to see it was skyrtel's fault. There second was not off-side because Ireland was behind the ball as it got played.
The last 3 games we have been 1 up and failed to win all three. We can't blame the yanks for that, thats the tactical and Mentality part of the game and for me that is Rafa's department.
