Reply to Brent Atema (if there is such a person)

By Antoine Zammit         (Other posts by Antoine Zammit)

This morning I received this email.

NAME: Brent Atema

EMAIL: brent.atema@bigred.unl.edu

MESSAGE: I would hope that soccer fans in the U.S. would do whatever it takes to promote the beautiful game in America.  However, it appears that you all are more concerned with damaging the game, rather than promoting it.

Your ridiculous boycott of Steven Cohen and World Soccer Daily has been detrimental to U.S. soccer coverage, as well as press freedoms and freedom of speech.  You are an embarrassment to soccer fans and all Americans, and should be disgraced by your actions.
Unfortunately when I replied to the email I got this message.
Remote host said: 550 5.7.1 <brent.atema@bigred.unl.edu>… server
[bigred.unl.edu] for <brent.atema@bigred.unl.edu> rejected address saying

So here is the reply to Mr. Atema:

Brent more than so I am very honored and proud with what we are doing.

Steven Cohen hates Liverpool and does not know anything about Football (that
is the real name of the sport).

In Hillsborough 96 innocent men, women & children were killed and Steven
Cohen bases his claims on nonfactual facts. As you can see I feel the same way about
Hillsborough as I do about 9/11 and as an American Liverpool Supporter I
will fight against anyone who either lies about the facts of these events or mocks the
memory of the innocent people lost on April 15, 1989 and September 11, 2001.

Sincerely,

  1. Eric says:

So let me get this straight. You’re damaging freedom of the press by starting a boycott? You’re not stopping him from going on the radio. You’re using your freedom of assembly, a first amendment right in this country. So they should have the freedom as the press to write and say what they want, but you don’t have the freedom to say, “Hey, we shouldn’t listen to them because they spread what we believe are lies.” Ridiculous. Again, it’s not like you went up to him and sewed his lips together. Keep up the good work Antoine.
