Europa League : Rabotnicki vs Liverpool (Thursday)

The Reds travel to Macedonia (F.Y.R.O.M.) on Thursday for the first leg of the Europa League third qualifying round, we face FK Robotnicki (no relation to the evil Doctor Ivo Robotnik from Sonic Hedgehog).

Failure to qualify for the Europa League proper would result in no European football for Liverpool this upcoming season so the fixture is very important.

Roy faces a dilemma as most of the starting eleven have just returned from their holidays are not yet match fit while others such as Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel & Pepe Reina haven’t returned to Melwood yet. Playing some of these players on Thursday can be very risky when you consider that the pitch will probably not be up to par as well.

Of the players who played in the World Cup only Soto, Agger, Jova & Skrtel are in the squad so Roy will have to rely on the youngsters.  If we can keep a clean sheet and maybe sneak in an away goal then we it should be smooth sailing when Robotnicki visit Anfield next week.

My Predicted Starting Line Up:
Cavalieri, Kelly, Soto, Skrtel, Agger, Spearing, Lucas, Aquilani, Jovanovic, N’Gog, Eccleston

In the UK the game is to be shown live on pay per view channel Primetime (Sky 480)

Kick off is at 8:45PM local time (7:45PM BST)

The Daily Antoine 2/2/2010 LFC News Digest

Happy Birthday Mum

Great news on the Shorty front, we are now in the final round.
Our competition is fierce especially when we have 3 Brazilians in the last 6.
Please invite your friends to Vote

Today is also Groundhog day in the USA,  George Gillett woke up this morning and saw his own shadow. Unfortunately it is going to be at least another 6 months of H&G ownership.

Speaking of USA, word is that the Reds might tour North America this Summer. If this is true that would be awesome for me personally and also for LFC. The last time the Reds toured America was right before the start of the 2004/05 season and then we won in Istanbul, Good Omen? :-)

We have a new writer on EOTK here is his first post
(Does he look like a Liverpool player? :-) )

There was a strong word that Vasilis Torosidis was joining Liverpool as the window was closing more…

(So far there has not been any confirmation however there still might be if it was a late transfer)

Great News on the injury front as Kelly & El Zhar both return from injuries as the reserves beat Bolton 2-0 more…
(Amoo & Plessis score while Pacheco almost pulled an Alonso)

Christopher Buchtmann was sold to Fulham yesterday  more…
(100K should be enough to pay for Hicks’ week-long stay at the Hilton)

However Weijl has completed a loan move back to the Netherlands more…
(So it is a loan and not a sale as originally reported)

Former Liverpool Chief Executive Rick Parry wants a gambling ‘Task Force’ to be set up more…
(Sounds like he knows something. I still think him & Moores took the biggest sports gamble ever by selling the club to H&G)

Rafa pays tribute to Kyrgiakos more…
(He is the son of Zeus, YNWA)

And Kuyt  talks about the dressing room mood more…
(It is all behind us now Dirk, keep focusing on the game, you have been awesome in the last few games. YNWA)

Pepe Reina too talks about the painful slump more…
(YNWA Pepe, keep those clean sheets coming with the Athenian wall in front of you there should not be any problems :-) )

Martin has extended his stay at Leeds more…
(Hopefully he can get some action)

And Eccleston also extends his stay at Huddersfield more…
(He will stay there until the end of the season)

Harry Kewell’s agent attacks the medicals at Liverpool & Leeds over Harry’s treatment more…
(Humm, let me break my leg and then blame the doctor)

The same agent claimed that Rafa was seeking advice from Harry about injuries  more…
(After all who does not know injuries better)

The record was set as the Reds & Blues unite for charity more…
(That is the spirit of the Merseyside Derby, we will defeat them this weekend however:-) )

According to Guillem Balague Investment is pivotal to 5 year plan more…
(Sorry Guillem I just can not trust Hicks & Gillett)

And Purslow is not contemplating life without Rafa, Torres or Gerrard more…

(However in the basement of the News of the World there was a meeting to decide which story to run. I believe they might be going to Torres is leaving as it has been a couple of weeks since they ran that story :-) )

And Robbie Keane joined Celtic claiming he has been a lifelong Celtic fan more…
(Wait a minute I heard that before from him last year. Yes he said that he was a lifelong Liverpool supporter. So does anyone out there still blame Rafa for Keane leaving Liverpool? Not to offend any of our Irish friends but I think he has a problem.)

More talk of John Terry handing in the captain’s armband more…
(If Terry steps down and Capello does not make Stevie G captain then Stevie should quit International football)

And finally another great article by Paul Tomkins more…
(Awesome stuff)

Tweet of the Day
When Robbie Keane was a kid he supported Celtic, Liverpool, Spurs, Wolves, Leeds, Coventry & Inter http://bit.ly/dfZ50Q

The Daily Antoine 14/1/2010 LFC News Digest

The day after is never pretty, all the newspapers right now and licking their chaps enjoying our demise. We shall over come, however right now I am worried about the injuries to Gerrard & Torres. There is no new news on this but I have a feeling that they both will miss the Stoke game on Saturday.

Rafa remains defiant more…
(I still support you Rafa however I am running out of steam)

The Reading keeper Federici is being linked with Liverpool again.

(Good keeper however we really never tested him. Raising him up to 10%)

Maxi is now a Liverpool player more…
(He is our new number 17)

As I thought, the club has denied the fee of £25 million for Chamakh more…
(LFC is still interested but the fee reported by the media was way too inflated)

Christian Purslow revealed that LFC will not be selling Gerrard or Torres more…
(Crossing my fingers, but they will not leave)

In case you missed it but he did hint at a possible buy-out of Liverpool more…
(I am not holding my breath)

And his meeting with SOS has been reschedule more…
(Is it just me or is something going on?)

An LFC Supporters group is upset over the new stadium more…
(Although it would be sad to see Anfield go we have to change with the times)

Eccleston is excited about the new contract more…
(We are excited too :-) )

And finally if we did not lose yesterday the back page headlines today would be talking about Man Utd’s debt more…
(According to the news-media they might have to sell Wayne Rooney, their training ground & even Old Trafford to balance their books. Of course we all know it is BS, they said the same about our debt a few months ago. Sell OT however that is original my hats off to the Daily Mail for creativity.)

4th Nov 2009 Liverpool News, Rumours and Rants

First of all I want to wish my lovely wife Mari a happy birthday.
OK, time to unite again with a big YNWA. We have to defeat Lyon tonight, come on Reds.

In case you missed it, here is a preview of the game by yours truly

Lyon are also facing some injury worries more…
(Not as bad as ours but nice to know that we are not the only ones.)

Here is the view from Lyon more…
(Finish the job? OVER OUR DEAD BODIES, come on reds)

Kuyt has no reason to fear more…
(I can already see the net moving and Dirk running with his hands high in the air.)

Torres might not need surgery more…
(If this is true then I am going to pop my hernia again bouncing :-)  )

Here is another positive, the reserves beat Everton reserves last night.
(Goal from Nathan Eccleston, the kid is gonna be a legend.
Remember that Shankly quote on the two best teams of Liverpool.
Well right now the best two teams in Liverpool are Liverpool Reserves and then Liverpool)

Platini threatens ban on Man Utd & Liverpool more…
(What is his problem? Haven’t we suffered enough!!!)

However according to these guys this is good new for Liverpool more…
(Kraft would be good for Liverpool)

A few weeks ago someone told me that Rick Parry was hanging around with some Saudis this is why…
(Interesting how Houlier is involved too)

Stevie G missed Xabi more…

(Well at least some justice but we do not get anything)

(We are going to have spend money in January)

Andrei Voronin is being linked with Hamburg
(His destiny is in Germany unfortunately he does not want to be at Liverpool)

And Ukraine drops him from the squad more…
(Well at least he will not get injured.)

According to Bloomberg Liverpool might have to sell Torres more…

(What the hell does a media organisation owned by the Major of New York city know about real football? Stick with your New York Yankees.)

John Barnes set to become manager of Rwanda more…
(Good luck John)

And finally Dossena is being linked with Napoli again more…
(When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool)
That’s amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You’re in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you’re not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That’s amore)
