The World Cup Draw

The World Cup Draw is being held today and as a Liverpool Supporter I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.

I love the World Cup and although I do care much about non-club football I do follow and watch most of the World Cup games.

In the past World Cups there haven’t been many Liverpool players participating so I just simply enjoyed watching the games and did not worry about injuries or fatigue. This year is different, potentially there are up to 17 LFC players that might feature in the World Cup so  we will probably see one of our Reds winning the ultimate football prize for their country.

It is a blessing and a curse I guess, while I would be happy for any LFC player/s that reach the later rounds of the Cup I will worry about next season. The World Cup Final is on the 11th of July and our preseason games usually start the following week which would mean we might have many of our players returning late to Melwood.

And then there is the “Rising Star” effect;
I remember seeing Fernando Torres play for Spain in the 2006 World Cup and telling myself  “Now that is a player I would like to see playing for Liverpool” and at that time I did not believe it would happen. And then I remember Senegal beating France in 2002 and how Houlier bought El Hajj Diouf and Salif Diao after seeing them perform.

So it is a mixed bag after all.

Y.N.W.A.

4th Nov 2009 Liverpool News, Rumours and Rants

First of all I want to wish my lovely wife Mari a happy birthday.

In case you missed it, here is a preview of the game by yours truly

(Finish the job? OVER OUR DEAD BODIES, come on reds)

Kuyt has no reason to fear more…
(I can already see the net moving and Dirk running with his hands high in the air.)

(If this is true then I am going to pop my hernia again bouncing :-)  )

Here is another positive, the reserves beat Everton reserves last night.

John Barnes set to become manager of Rwanda more…
(Good luck John)

And finally Dossena is being linked with Napoli again more…
(When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool)
That’s amore

You’re in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you’re not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That’s amore)

Mon 26th October 2009 Liverpool News, Rumours and Rants

Just in case you were on another planet yesterday but we beat ManWho 2-0 with goals by Torres and N’gog. I am however disappointed that Rafa did not do a belly flop however Lucas provided it. It was Lucas’ best performance in the Red shirt, without a doubt my Man of the Match.
Keep it up Lucas, YNWA!

Rafa hails Karakter and Kwality :-) more…
(I hail Rafa, the 11 on the field, the bench, the backroom staff, the groundskeeper, the Kop, all the Liverpool fans and of course Nemanja Vidic for entertaining us with a 3rd straight red card.)

(Fergie shut your yapper, for F**ks sake we were beaten by a beach ball goal and we carried on while you lot tormented us. Grow up or retire.)

In the meantime Evra takes the highroad more…

(That is what professionals do.)

I love this t-shirt  more…
(Kwality, Kwality, Kwality)

First Mourinho, now O’Neill is being linked with Liverpool more…

(Come on save us from the misery, Hicks & Gillett out now.)

Gerard Houlier might return to the Premier League as manager of Brum.
(Good luck Gerard)

And finally Masch will miss the Arsenal  Carling Cup game on Wednesday because of the 1 match game.
(I think Rafa would have rested him anyways.)

No word on Torres, Stevie G & Glen Johnson yet.
(I guess we are going to have to wait until the lineup is announced.)

(Exactly, I want Rafa to do a belly flop, please.)

And the tabloids are all claiming that Masch wants out of Liverpool

(Here we go again)

And that the club will be forced to sell Torres to ease the financial burden!!!! more…
(Chelsea & United have a larger debt yet you do not hear any of the tabloids claiming that they have to sell their star players to survive. I hate these tabloids and they time it right before a huge game to try to deflate us.)
