Michael Owen moving to the Dark Side

Posted by

Woke up this morning to a terrible shock, Michael Owen is said to be close to signing for Manure. The first words I uttered out where the same ones Shakespeare used to describe Brutus’ betrayal of Caesar, ‘Et Tu Michael‘ (and you too Michael).

This seems to be another plot by Dr. Evil Fergie to get back at us Liverpool supporters however the only one who will suffer is Michael Owen. I can not believe Michael would do this, why? To revive his England career? Give me a break.

I can however point at some perks Michael will enjoy, the Manure bench is very comfortable, those nice plush seats by Ricaro are definately a step up from the ones at St. James’ Park. Of course, I am sure that Manure have also a state of the art gym and great medical staff to help Michael while he is nursing one of his many injuries. In America we do not get free healthcare so I do appreciate what is going on here. Michael Owen will get paid while receiving state of the art health care, maybe it is not a bad business move after all. Silly career move but good business move.

Walk Alone Michael,
Once you sign that Manure contract, like Anakin Skywalker you would have crossed to the Dark Side and there will be no way back.

  1. If he signs that piece of paper, puts on that shirt, he will never be able to walk about Liverpool again. He will be dead to me.

  2. Most of you guys would have been quite happy to see Tevez moving to Liverpool…until he snubbed you. Now, Owen “will be dead” “if he signs that piece of paper”

What a delicious irony it will be if Owen and his Scouser colleague Wayne Rooney help bring a 19th Premiership to Old Trafford. How much gnashing of the teeth will there be at Anfield? One can only wonder!

  3. Cannot find a way to edit my comment so I will just add another.

This move may work out or more likely will not BUT at least the great man had the balls to take a gamble. BeneathUs did not.

  4. Nobody said that Owen is a Scouser Antoine, he comes from Cheshire, but he was the pride of Anfield at one stage. We all have to wait nearly 12 months before we know who is going to get jack this season so we should all stop predicting and wait until the fat lady sings. Remember, she had nothing good to sing about Liverpool for 3 long years…and counting

  5. Frank are you twisting the words again.

You said “Owen and his Scouser colleague Wayne Rooney” implying that Owen is a scouser like Wayne Rooney.

You Mancs smoke too much crack.

  6. Let’s stop nitpicking mate. “His Scouser colleague (At Manchester United) Wayne Rooney” does NOT make Owen a Scouser. Surely, it is plain enough English. Nothing was implied, just stating FACTS like Rafa likes to do.

  7. He is a twat of the highest order if he goes there. For someone who “wanted to come back” after his time at Real Madrid, this is just rubbing it in the face of the fans who applauded him while he warmed up on the touchline at Anfield in the Newcastle game last season.

  8. Good god Frank, I did not say Owen would be dead, as in the sense of me assassinating him. He would be dead to me, I always had a small hope he would come back to Liverpool, as stupid and naive as that may be. He is jumping to Man United, if that he is going to do, that is what he is going to do.

Also, I have no quarrel against Tevez for not wanting to move to Liverpool. He is an excellent footballer and is not entitled to listen to my opinion on which direction his career should take. But then again, I am arguing against Manc logic where the aspects of logic and fiction get mixed up with one another.

United to grasp a 19th title? By all means fire away. With such a reduction in your main attacking options will fulfil the needs of Premier League Comedy with Ronaldo moving his stage show to Spain.

  9. Fair comment Duckbox. The result of the reduction of our “main attacking options” will take until May next year to be clarified. Time will tell.

  10. irfaanf…Why? Owen has a life and a career to think about! If BeneathUs has no faith in his future, why not go with Ferguson who does? What would YOU have done?

  11. why o why o why michael, he used to moan about not getting the same sort of support as robbie(fowler), steve(mcmanaman) & even some honorary scousers i.e. didi, sami, can you imagine any of the above moving to manure?! I THINK NOT! Remember robbie’s 5 finger salute to the manure? classic robbie!
Why would he not go to everton i’m pretty sure they would’ve had him with there need for strikers, & as his boyhood team??? I also think spurs would’ve been a good team for him, harry redknapp would be perfect for him!
Goodbye michael with us you were a saint now your just a devil!

  12. Michael Owen you was a LEGEND for us(liverpool fans)…I don’t have ANY respect 4 u now ;((

  13. He will always be a legend, and i wish him luck at old toilet,
at the end of the day he probably only got one or two seasons left, what would you do. stoke or hull?

  14. Tbh i have to say i like tevez, even after he said no to liverpool as it showed he had character and respected his old club, where as Owen who jumped ship( to win the champions league lol) the same year we won it. He has shown that hes only in the game for himself and signing for man utd is the final nail in his coffin. I’d say he’ll make a nice bench warmer at united but tbh we all know he’ll pick up a season long injury in his first training session.

  15. Have to agree with Kevin…Owen going to United can only be a good thing for Liverpool next year. If fergie is relying on Owen to be his back-up striker he has another think coming. The way it stands one semi-serious injury to Berbatov or Rooney could ruin their season cos ya can be dam sure Owen will have his feet up at the races when he’s not on the treatment table.

  16. If you guys find the Owen move distasteful just wait until the next one. Ferguson is targeting Peter Crouch AND Robbie Keane, both cut price signings as well as former Liverpool players. Fergusons revenge on Rafa?

  17. Being a Liverpool fan all my life, I remembered the days when Robbie Fowler was refered to as God in Anfield and when he left, we kept on walking and we said who needs God when we have St. Michael.

And then Michael Owen left. It was a hard pill to swallow. But then, think about it, nobody plays for a club becoz of passion towards the club, they play for passion towards cash.

Will Samuel Eto agree to play for Liverpool because of his passion for the game??? I think not..

The same thing .. Owen, Fowler and take Ronaldo for instance, they play for clubs to be paid by them. If Ronaldo had the passion, he would have stayed in Man U no matter what amount Real offered.

What I’m trying to say is .. Michael has signed for Man U. Wish him all the best. Though I still think that he would have been an excellent partner for Torres..

The man needs to feed his family and the only way he knows is by playing football..

  18. Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane? By all means if he can certainly do that! Revenge on Rafa? If that where the true case, then clearly old Sir Hairdryer is really in need of a retirement home. To have such funds at your disposal and spend it to ‘upset’ Rafa? Bloody hell, if he did that, Rafa would be getting a good laugh out of it.

The way I see it, the only way Manure can move forward with their ‘squad’ as it is, is to get as many ex-LFC players as possible. Just moving with the times!

  19. A lot has been written about the Michael Owen move in the media and many opinions have been expressed. I want to respectfully suggest that the thoughts of hardened professionals like Ian Rush, Graeme Souness, Glen Hoddle, Fabio Capello as well as Sir Alex himself are far more valid than the opinions of all you guys and myself put together. Rush even laments the fact that Owen was not taken back to Anfield while Souness will not be surprised if Owen ends up as the Premierships top goalscorer next season.

  20. FACT Antoine, Owen has never played for a club like United before. He has only ever been involved with clubs who have never won a Premiership

FACT Can you or I ever class ourselves as being more knowlegable about English football than the people mentioned above? Are we kidding ourselves?

  21. Not about being excited mate because I’m not convinced that this move will work out. Just want to present some alternative viewpoints to what’s appearing here by some very respected professionals.

  22. Speaking of Michael Owen, I just tried to go to his personal website there, http://www.michaelowen.com, and my anti-virus popped up saying ‘Warning! Virus detected!’

Even his poor website is injured, well, if Manure know what they are doing! Number 19 :)

  23. You guys should not be so smug about Ferguson’s lack of big name signings. Liverpool is going to struggle big time should the ever more likely loss of Masch, Alonso and Arbeloa go through. A 17 million pound full back comes into their place while there are still no back ups for Stevie G and Torres. Lack of squad depth cost Liverpool dearly last season and rather than improving on it, Rafa seems to be going backwards. Happy 2009/10 guys.

  24. It is indeed sad news to see Owen playing for the evil empire. He has truly been one of my favorite players, but this game is about more than an individual player it’s about team loyalty and I can only wish Owen and ManU all the misery in the world on the pitch this coming season. When his career is over and he see’s the error of his ways and apologizes for his betrayal, then I and only then shall I take the needles out of the feet of my M. Owen Voodoo doll ;-)
