Following yesterdays shock news from Jack Straw that he will not be granting a pardon to innocent Liverpool fan Michael Shields the following events have been organised by the Free Michael Shields Campaign.
Monday 6 July 12pm – All Hackney Carriages in Liverpool will parade past the Shields family home at noon. Please make every effort to attend this and show your support. The address is Towerlands Street, Wavertree, Liverpool.
Saturday 11 July 5pm – A vigil will be held for Michael at the Church of England Cathedral, all of Michael’s campaigners will be in attendance, including the likes of Ricky Tomlinson. Again please make every effort to attend.
Finally, a plea, if anybody, either themselves, or knows of anybody who has any information regarding the attack on Martin Georgiev, please come forward now. Michael’s legal team only have until the end of this month to submit any new evidence to Mr Straw and it is vital any available evidence is found. Please either email michaelshieldscampaign@uwclub.net or call the office of John Weate, Michael’s solicitor on 0151 647 0000, your information will be treated with the strictest of confidence.
I think he did it sorry mate
if u think he did it your a tit so fuck off
Its depressing to see the legal system like this, and the prejudice of other countries to British/Irish football supporters of all teams. This could happen to anyone, and would certainly make any fan weary of traveling abroad.
I hope Mr Shields gets out with a full pardon and compensated for pieces of life that have wrongfully been taken from him.
I hatr Jack Straw with a passion.
Michael is innocent, the person who did it admitted to it but then retracted his statement, the spineless crook.
Jack Straw said just over a year ago that if he had the power to pardon Michael he would, now he’s broke that promise and it’s time for even more pressure.
I’ve been a Labour follower all my life, but this is it for me, the end. The way this Labour government has treated Michael is shameful.
If you’ve ever been to an away match at home or abroad you could have been put into Michael’s position if you were unlucky, it could have been any of us.
