Sunday 30th August, 2009 Transfer Rumours and News

Here we are just hours before the transfer window closes and there does not seem to be any more transfers lined up.

Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow had claimed that Rafa had £20 million to spend at the start of the transfer season however the money simply does not add up. When you take the money we got for Xabi and the other players we sold and you minus the amount we paid for Aquilani, Johnson (remember we got a credit for Crouch from Portsmouth) & Kyrgiakos everything seems to break even.

Where is the £20 million?

  1. Purslow also suggested that extending player contracts also came from the transfer kity, so that might be your answer.

  2. I am frustrated by the short sited plan of the board, they have tied Rafa’s hands.Apart from Torres i cant think of another player that would’ve been Rafa’s 1st choice signing!!We signed Riera(who has done a good job)when Rafa has really wanted Silva from Valencia.Maybe if we had signed Barry last summer when Rafa wanted him Xabi would still be at the club?
We haved signed Kyriakos,,could we not have signed Chygrinoski from Shaktar…I know Rafa now has sole charge of transfers but he has no control of the budget he has to work with,he has been very savvy this summer with the obviously reduced money,we need at least another striker or right hand sided player so that Dirk can concentrate on putting the ball in the net..i do think we are just 1 player away from dominating in the league.what do you think?

  3. Re-signing torres and gerrard. Those guys are kind of important, don’t ya think?…

Sorry, I can’t boohoo about money after lackluster performances against Spurs, Villa and Bolton who all have half the money liverpool does. If were losing to man u, chelsea, or city, complain about money. When were losing to teams with less, either the manager isn’t spending well, he isn’t doing well tactically, or the players are underachieving. Fact.
