How do we get rid of Hicks and Gillett?

I am sure that all of us Reds can agree that Tom Hicks & George Gillett need to sell our club and move on. The frustration among us faithful supporters has become unbearable and the feeling of despair is starting to set in. The news-media does not help either when they keep mentioning Leeds in reference to the current financial state of our club.

There are interested parties who want to buy the club however from what I hear is that Hicks is being very greedy and is asking for compensation on future gate receipts on top of the price. So even if we get rid of them many Reds will be still dishing money out to Hicks & Gillett even after the club is sold.

I must applaud Spirit of Shankly (S.O.S.) for leading the charge in trying to put pressure on the duo to sell our club. Recently S.O.S. have even supported the ShareLiverpoolFC new proposal of offering lower share prices and have been vocal in organising protests usually  before home games.

I hate to sound pessimistic but all these protest marches and activities do not seem to be having any effect. Yes the media in the UK and Europe give the protests attention but here in the U.S. you do not even hear a whisper.  When Hicks and Gillett turn on the news or grab the local newspaper they will not hear or see anything about the protests. Of course I am sure they know about it but the protest is not the talk of the town, they are far removed from the whole situation. I can even bet money that they do not even watch any of the Liverpool games on TV.

What can we do?
Here are some ideas I have

  1. Protests are good but plan a real huge one the next time H&G are in town so they are really see it and feel it.
  2. Take the protest to Dallas and Vail, Colorado where they live. No I am not urging everyone to buy a plane ticket and head out here but any press releases should also be sent to newspapers in Dallas and Vail. Let us start a letter writing campaign to the local newspapers there.
  3. Again I strongly believe that is important that the communities where Gillett & Hicks live are aware on what is going on. How will George Gillett and Tom Hicks  feel if they saw a billboard with their faces on it on their drive to work?
  4. The Anti-Cohen campaign was effective here in the US because it was organised through our supporter’s clubs. Unfortunately we can use the supporters clubs for this kind of campaign. My idea is to have S.O.S. setup a US division to help coordinate action here.

Please post your feedback below, let us get as many ideas as we can. By yelling ‘Yanks Out’ we are not going to get anything done, we need to all start taking action for the love our club.
