We are knocking United off their perch

Posted by
A couple of “off the field news” in the last week brought a big smile to face.

The signing of youngster Michael Ngoo : The 16 year old was snatched from under Man Utd’s noses as we signed him from Southend. This proves that there is a new sheriff in town and we can go in and attract the same quality of talent they can.

The Standard Chartered Sponsorship : There are claims now that the sponsorship is actually £81 million as it includes a £1 million performance bonus.  If this is the case it will make the sponsorship deal the largest ever in the history of football and actually beating United’s deal with AON.

Both these stories are great news as they prove that we are finally beating them off the field as well.  As much as we complained about the lack of signings take a look at what is going on at Old Trafford. They sold Ronaldo for
£80 million and they did not spend the money. Of course you will not find any of the tabloids talking about it but I  am sure that situation at O.T. is not so happy as they make it sound.  It looks like they have used the £80 million to pay off part of their debt which has swelled to over £650 million.

For United winning trophies  is vital and they know that many of their fans will desert them if they go into a slump.  Keeping “Sweetheart players” is another part of their economic survivability.  I can bet money that they have lost fans because of Ronaldo leaving them as there are a group of  “Don’t know anything about Football” fans who will follow players no matter where they go.

  1. “Both these stories are great news as they prove that we are finally beating them off the field as well.”

As well as what? As well as finishing only one place behind them in the league?

As a neutral I’m rooting for Liverpool to overtake Man Utd, but hold your horses mate!

  2. It is funny you should say that, we get our typical Chinese takeaway on a Saturday night. Always delivered by the same fellow wearing a Manchester United shirt, every week. Then suddenly, it was a Real Madrid top, and has been ever since.

Either this is what fanship is these days or cults are brewing!
