Prince Faisal claims deal with Gillett almost completed, what’s next?

Posted by

As most of you already heard; Saudi Prince Faisal is claiming that the deal between him and George Gillett and  is almost completed, this follows rumours that we heard on Monday that the deal was completed.

I really think the deal is pretty much done and the Prince is just being over cautious as Gillett & Hicks are very unpredictable.

I do believe that this time around the investment (sale of shares) will happen as Tom Hicks for the first time removed his veto to allow the sale. What is unclear is what made Tom Hicks change his mind?
Could it be that former US President George W Bush had something to do with this? After all Bush sold the Texas Rangers to Hicks (a fellow Texan) and we all know that Bush has an excellent working relationship with the Saudi royal family. Again, the Bush connection is speculation but I am very curious how Hicks could say no to D.I.C. and yes to the Saudis.

Whatever happens I think the days of the H&G Liverpool ownership are numbered.

  1. I think Hicks is just tired of George and since he cant afford or get the money to buy out Gillet hes caving in to get rid of him.

  2. We’ve had so many false dawns until the agreement is signed and sealed I won’t believe it. Secondly, what plans does the Prince have if he’s really agreed to buy 50 per cent of LFC shares? How will he work with Hicks who owns the other 50 per cent? Never liked partnerships in business and I can’t see how this will work either unless it’s the first step for the Prince to buy the remaining shares.
