Let us return to basics starting with the Kop pledge

Posted by

Always support the team, no matter how bad they are playing.
If the team is doing badly, cheer even louder as they need your support more.

If a player is struggling, sing his name louder and more often as he needs it.

If the opposition are the better side and perform well, appreciate it and give them the credit they are due.

What has happened to the Kop pledge?

Things really got ugly over the last week as many Liverpool fans started attacking our players, our manager and turning on each other.  We all heard Anfield booing on Tuesday, disgusting. Some fans even went as far as calling Ryan Babel nasty names on his Twitter account forcing him to change his username and protect his updates. When I confronted them about it I was attacked and called a B****end. Others have taken their Rafa bashing to the next level calling for his head.  But the player who gets the most abuse of course is Lucas, even if he plays well he gets attacked. What has happened to our beloved Liverpool?

So I am starting here at Empire of The Kop, all the writers on this blog will from now on abide by the rules above, and those who don’t will have to write elsewhere.

Remember football is a team sport and when we lose a game we all fail, the 11 on the pitch fail, the manager fails, the backroom staff fail and the supporters fail.

Remember if you are a supporter you are more than a fan, YOU SUPPORT and we do this in sickness and health ’till death do us part.

AMEN

Now, let us beat United.

  1. thats more like it. we’re liverpool we’re different from all the rest. support the team dont criticise

  2. Is it just me or had the crowd at Anfield died down? I know on some EPL game weekends alot of tourists and foriegn fans come in the ground but for eg: on Tuesday night they started of great but they not like before forever cheering them on, Anfield is getting quiet! or it could be my TV :D

come on guys lets show this team how much we support them!

  3. Hear Hear! But please don’t stop constructive criticism of players, managers, tactics etc. Just stop personal and unwarrented verbal attacks on them.

We, Liverpool fans, are extremely knowledgeable especially when it comes to football. We support the 11 players in red. Remember they are living our dreams!

  4. Well said mate. We should support our men through thick and thin and worse. ALL of our men.
This is Liverpool, if the cleaners got a bad back and having trouble mopping the floor we should cheer him till he’s done!!! HE is Liverpool, WE are Liverpool!!!

Liverpool triumphs, we all triumph but when Liverpool fall, we have all fallen. Every single one of us.

  5. I know we are having a lean season with the loss of Alonso creating much imbalance and uncertainty. Coupled by the fact that stlawarts like Carra and Gerro arent upto scratch this season. I can re-sign up to this pledge but if it means supporting mediocrity like Lucas (very nice chap though) through thick and thin, then we may as well kiss the 19th title goodbye. We cant have our cake and eat it too.

  6. We know we are the best supporters in the world! We must step on Sunday to show our support to the Redmen!Come on U Reds!We know u can can make it!

  7. The thing is, we can support our team and be behind the managers and players while disagreeing on what’s best for the club. Civil, cordial discussions are part of footy. If we start calling each other names, we’re hardly Liverpool anymore. I agree, if they’re struggling on the pitch, sing their names louder. We don’t get to pick the lineup, we get behind them so they play their best. Otherwise, we’re no better than Mancs. We’re LIVERPOOL; we don’t need “united” in our name. Rant ended.

  8. It is unfair the bashing people are giving Benitez but I in no way think stopping them writing on the site is a fix. Whether we like it or not these people have a right to their opinion. What is this blog? Is it a propaganda page or is it Liverpool facts and opinion of the club’s fans? If they are so wrong let them argue their case and we will win if we are right.
Finally, can we all stop with this ‘a true liverpool fan would think this’ and ‘a true liverpool fan would never do that’. We are all as true as the next and nobody has the right to say they are a better fan than everyone else. The club builds a lot of its support on the diveristy of its fans. Our fans are more than just the local plumbers and joiners with the odd welshman mixed in that live near the ground like Everton fans, we are diverse and all have opinions and are all true fans in our own way.

  9. Fair point Antoine and this is a superb blog you run. Still though, they go to the games just like we do and have a right to their opinion – no matter how knee jerk they are. Let them speak, we will have them right off!

  10. Happy this was posted. Any player cna have a bad day and and not look the brightest, but any player who is doing there best and wants to play for us, as long as he shows he is read and willing, i say he can earn a spot. And for Rafa, he is our Rafalution. things take time, he signed a new contract, i know we have the skill, depth will come. Lets pray and hop on sunday. YNWA
