With a little help from our friends

Liverpool won 2:0 againts Wolverhampton thanks to Yossi Benayoun and a historical 75th Steven Gerrard goal, which opened the scoring at Anfield and gave the team their faith back.

It wasn’t a superb performance from the team, there were a lot of mistakes which quite arent usual for the Reds, but hey … we won! And the lads played better than againt Portsmouth, they are coming back. That’s a big positive and a fantastic christmas gift. The best present was Stevie’s goal which finally opened the causeys. It was Gerrards 75th league goal of the decade: he overtook Micheal Owen (74 goals) and became the top scorer of the Noughties.

Let us hope that lots of goals will follow in the next matches, not from our Captain Fantastic only. YNWA

Yesterdays match showed, how one decision can change the whole game. It was the second-half dismissal of Wolves’ Stephen Ward which proved crucial, after Liverpool had struggled to examine Wanderers goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann for an hour. From now on the Wolves played short, with ten men only.

However, I’ve never seen such a stupid decision and I was asking myself, where this gromless referee came from? What a dumbo … Lucky for us, he revised the decision and the game was in our hands from that moment.

What still has to get better is the defence and the communication during the match. “There is nobody there” were the words, which the commentator repeated the most. That’s not right. That’s our weak point which is quite new in our play and turnded out critical in a few games in the past. This chink has to be improved. The players have to be more energetic and watchful.

If there weren’t this small … hmm … help from our “friends”, our mistakes could get deciding for the Wolves, for us, for Rafa … All would be different now.
