What’s happening?

The big freeze over most of Europe and the British Isles has somehow subdued the initial enthusiasm of the January transfer window.

Officially, the Reds have offloaded two players from the first team, with Dossena and Voronin both leaving for greener pastures and they were rarely stepping on the green of Anfield. The Maxi Rodriguez signing from Atletico Madrid needs to be finalized, and it seems that the Manager is working to bring in some more fresh faces to bolster the squad.

Latest in line to be linked with the Reds is out-of-favour and now out-of-plans defender-cum-midfielder Nedum Onuoha. The 23 year-old Man City ex-Under 21 international was dodged with injuries at the start of the season and seems to have fallen out of favour, with more experienced players used in his roles. The good thing about this lad is that he is an England International, that he may come at an affordable prince, and that he can play in defense as well as a holding midfielder, a role in which I’ve seen him play a few times for England’s Under 21s. The bad thing is that Man City might not want to sell a player to a direct competitor for a CL spot, even though they now seem to have set their sights to higher and more ambitious targets. With tonight’s hammering of Blackburn Rovers at Eastlands, they have now moved up to the coveted 4th spot.

Tom Hicks Jnr got a bashing from all quarters which forced him to resign. His unbelievable sortie did not do our relationships with the owners any good. Luckily he will go back to watch ice-hockey and American football and leave us to enjoy the best game in the world. And that’s the way it should be.

Liverpool’s financial situation is a peach compared to Man Utd’s. Now we know why non of the Stg 80 million they got for Ronnie was spent! The only thing that leaves the Man Utd fans off the Glazer’s back (for now) is that they keep winning. If Man Utd don’t land any silverware this season, I am pretty sure the Glazers will get the same flak as H&G get from our fans.

It seems like the FA Cup replay with Reading is going ahead as planned this Wednesday. Hopefully we will get through to the next round and use the game to sharpen our football prior to the Saturday lunchtime encounter with Stoke at the Britannia (weather permitting).

Oh and finally….this talk about the Reds having to sell Torres and Gerrard….don’t let it bother you. It won’t happen!
