Torres in demand.

Rumours have circulated in the press this week that Man City would acknowledge an eventual Champions League qualification with a Stg 100 million bid for our Fernando Torres as a present to Roberto Mancini.

Now we all know that the Spanish forward is perhaps one of the best centre forwards in circulation today, if not THE best. We also know that the Spaniard has pledge his love for the Club, the city and the fans, and we are aware that he has recently signed a contract extension with the Reds to prove this.

The likelihood of Torres leaving the Reds at the end of the season is remote, improbable but not impossible. A Stg 100 million offer will not go unnoticed and the Club will take it in consideration, definitely. Torres himself would see his income almost double by joining the sky blues, and finally, if Man City do qualify for the Champions League it is likely to be at our cost.

The question I have for you friends is this: notwithstanding the financial situation, which in comparison to Man Utd is rather peachy and getting healthier, would you, as manager, sell Fernando Torres if someone came in with such a bid that would be a world record transfer?

Obviously I don’t want to influence your answer, but if Man City came knocking and I was manager my answer would be “I suggest you save yourself Stg 50 million and go for Wayne Rooney! If you come back with another Stg 50 million on top of the 100, we might take it into consideration!”

  1. If we could insure that we could get D. Villa or Aguero, along with D Silva, for that £100 mil then I think it would be to LFC’s benefit. But even if getting those two was guaranteed it would be a tough decision. Throw in £20 mil in conditionals and it’s a done deal. Love Nando, but good business is good business

  2. I would not sell Torres for any amount. What would we do with the money we make for him ? Chances are those two yanky F**ks would only use it to clear debt. They are a cancer in the club and need to be terminated.

Torres is our saviour as far as im concerned. If himself and gerrard stay fit we can easily qualify for europe next year. You sell Torres and what do we have? Kuyt ( while he is a fantastic palyer his work rate is second to none he is not as menacing in front of goal as Torres.

NGog My opinion of him is we need to loan him off for a season. Let him learn his trade as he will not get many chances with us at the moment. So that leaves buying someone to replace Torres. So say we do get 100 Million – 150 Million off his sale. How much of that do you think rafa will get to replace torres with. My guess is none. Add that together that we prob would not have anyone interested in signing to us if we do not have champions league football.

We need to keep our top players and rid ourselves of the cancer that is Hicks and Gilette.

In rafa we trust we will never walk alone

  3. Do not want to see him leave. He wins one trophy with us in the next two years, and he will be happy again as ever!

  4. I wouldn’t sell Torres for the world. Not because I am blinded by my love for LFC as a fan, not because I cannot let go of Torres, but because what’s money in front of raw talent like Torres’? We can buy 3-4 players with the money instead. but really, how good will they be? Will they be so swift on the field and so confident and sure of their game like Torres is? They can offer 500 000 sterling and I would still say no because money doesn’t buy you happiness, but Torres does :)

  5. Even if they do pay 100 million up front, it wouldn’t help much. First of all, any team you would want to buy players from would inflate the prices by up to 150% (real Madrid this season, anyone?). Second, what player could you buy that would bring as much to the club both on and off the pitch? Internationally the reds have mainstream appeal right now because of Torres above anything else. So, it would just be bad fir business in the medium run.

  6. There are some players in every team who themselves Symbolize the Club like our Gerrard and Torres..So i think it should ideally be RAFA(or me for that matter..had i been in his shoes) saying “Torres is not for SALE”..
But with our Debt and all ..things may be different..with 100m well, they tried 200m with Messi and failed ..I think firstly MAN CITY WILL NEVER make such an Offer…sounds like an OUTLANDISH rumour to me..Secondly if we play to our potential WE SHOULD HAVE THE 4TH SPOT..(All is not LOST..yet)..
BUT if YOU want to know the TRUTH..its tough but ya..for 100m pure..ya SADLy enough TORRES has a GOOD chance being SOLD..and maybe with the idea that the World is not bereft of Talent..and we find replacements(WITH H&G..it’s very possible)..I would never strike such a deal though like BARCA did with MESSI..
And please people Don’t say “WE CAN BUY VILLA, SILva ..or the whole SPAINISH squad..”buying a STRIKER for 40-50m is madness..UNless you have money to Waste..like REAL and MANCity..and i am sure Villa won’t be as BIG in England as Torres..We tried MORIENTES too remember…

  7. It would really be a bad move.No money whatsoever can bring what Torres brings to the club, even if that means 2-3 world class players. But there is no guarentee for that cause of the Yanks.Even look at Man Who.They sold Cristiano and Tevez to replace them by Valencia and Judas(free).

  8. I would not want Torres to go. But, it’s 100mil!!! Who will ignore the 100mil deal? Anyway, I still confidence that Torres will not leave us. He loves Rafa and Liverpool. He respect us too. Torres will not go. Tonio Bone, thanks for your support due to some people are scolding me about my opinion. But I am not down, it’s just my opinion on Xabi and I am so sorry about the POOR ENGLISH. But hopefully next time I will be very careful on this. THANKS TONIO!! YNWA

  9. IF we sell Torres to City, we forfeit out place in the top 4.
City would be too powerful and a replacement would be hard to find, no taking into consideration Stevie would play worse if he loses his favorite strike partner.

  10. It would just be silly to not accept that kind of money, for any player. Noone is bigger then the club, and even if Torres is the best striker in the world, he is also one of the most injured in one of the thinest squads, à ecuation tyst is impossible to keep up in à long term.

Who dont love Torres as à football interested person? As à reds fan you want him to stay, as à other club supporter you want him in your squad.

And for à 100milj we could ease the debt, buy 2-3 classy players and also be able to pick some young englishmens into the squad.

We would all miss Nando, but in the end it would be the best for the club, even if you have to take the loss of attraction when Nando is not playing, booth fr.o.m. Supprters and sponsors.

  11. I wouldn’t sell Torres for love nor money, it would be pointless to let such an enormous talent go.
