The players and Rafa were under a lot of pressure before the match started,naturally. But we went out there and did what we had to. Showed Lille the exit and progressed to the last 8. It was a good game, we weren’t at our best but job done nonetheless.
Pepe made some good saves but looked comfortable for most of the match. Lucas played really well – created the first goal, picked out some wonderful passes. He disappeared every now and then but full credit to him. Babel played well, I kind of think he needs to learn when to pass the ball. Dirk worked hard, wasn’t one of his better days. Ripped a couple of shots in the dying minutes. Insua played well too(many might disagree). He defended well and did good going forward too. Stevie didn’t look like his best, at all. He did score one and create another but this isn’t the Stevie G we’re used to seeing. I’m hoping he’s back to his best very soon. Nando was my MOTM. Worked hard, scored a brace, all in all, he looked good. He’s slowly and steadily regaining his fitness, so that’s positive.
I’m really nervous about the big match on Sunday. We’ve done well in the last 2 matches, scoring 7 goals and conceding 1. It’ll boost the confidence of all the players and hopefully we can get a result. A WIN, I mean. Bring on the scum.
