Pride vs Points

I seldom post many articles this season due to a busy personal schedule, but I have also made time to vent my thoughts and fears whenever the occasion has deemed too big.
What can we say of this season? What summary could I put in place to describe this to my son in 10 years time? An occurring motto of  “It can’t get any worse”  has been uttered as an empty remedy after every upset this season, only to be used again in a tragic fashion. We have witnessed two European attempts crushed in a horrible fashion, but we walked on. We witnessed our domestic half-hearted attempts disappear, but we walked on. We witnessed loosing more league games in our opener of the season than we did all of last season, but we are still walking on.
Today is a simple matter of Pride vs Points. We win, our historic barrier is broken by our worst enemy, and we have a slim chance of securing slim pickings for the higher parts of the league table. We loose, we are stuck in non-European depths, but we will still maintain our League record ( for now )
If we loose, a nice proposition for incoming players to a club that all that has to offer is its pride, history, and fans that’ll shout your name for the rest of your life. This seems a nicer offering to me, but we had a hard time in the past attracting players with all the media spewing of the Owners, Rafa, and the teams performance. Imagine so with no opportunity for European Honours?
Perhaps if we do loose, we may have our best chance of winning a domestic trophy with no over-seas distractions. That is a warming yet sickening thought, but that is the dark scenario we have had in front of us for a while now.
Either way the outcome of today, whatever personal set of positives you have graphed for today’s fixture, we will walk on.
Last game at Anfield this season, against Chelsea. Are we going to lie down? Not a chance in blue flamed hell. Are we going to gift wrap the title? Perhaps, but its old news that the scum need others to do them a favour to enhance their success.
Chelsea are going to fight for their title, and more power to them. But if they do not want it as bad as we do not want to loose.
I will follow this club into League Two, with the worst players in the world, with a senile old manager, and still shout their names because of the crest they wear.
Ladies and Gentlemen, if you are hoping for Pride or Points today, just remember, that no matter the outcome, we will walk on.
