  1. Sad to see him go, but the right decision. One issue resolved but still many to go, owners, ground and new manager yet to be sorted. I believe getting rid of Rafa means keeping Stevie & Torres which in turn keeps valuable assets at the club in business terms. Still maybe two seasons of woe ahead before the spade goes in the ground for a new stadium, for me the number one priority. YNWA

  2. Covet the new stadium I don’t see why people are concerned with this there is still plenty of development opportunities at anfield to create more space!

But enough of that i’m disgusted with the way rafa has been treated and have begun writing my good luck letter to him!

Does no one with think without him the tumour could end up flogging our assets?

  3. Wouldn’t be opposed to development of Anfield, whichever is quickest and most financially viable Steve.

  4. Would not be opposed to development of Anfield, whichever is quickest and most financially viable Steve.

  5. To be honest, I’m kinda happy that he’s gone, because some of his tactical choices this season were way off expectations, and it cost us our Champions League berth, but I’m annoyed that his contract severance has (presumably) eaten a huge hole out of our projected transfer kitty for the summer, spending money the club doesn’t even have.

It’s just the board yet again dousing themselves with petrol and daring us to strike a match (which, ironically and shamefully, someone did, to a US flag, which is a dire shame. We’re anti-Hicks/Gillett, not anti-American, does nobody remember Brad Friedel used to play for us? What kind of message does that send out?)

  6. i am just sad that we are losing a world class manager who is not good for us but is good enough for champions of europe inter. or even juventus. or madrid. the list goes on.

take a good manager and give him little to no money and expect him to do miracles? and now we are left with “no” world class manager and still the same shoddy bloodsucking managers that we are trying to kick out anyway.

btw i’m pretty sure spiritofshankly had no connection to the flag burning. that was brainless. we are fans of a football club. no mindless man u fans.

  7. Delighted he has gone. It is time for a change. I feel bad for the guy that things didn’t work out but it is definitely time to move on. He was inept in the transfer market, poor on tactics and at times to stubborn to change his ways.

The owners have been awful with regards to no new stadium and loading the club with debt but Rafa having no money is a myth. He may have had to sell at certain times to raise funds but it is what you do with them funds that counts and when it came to spending, way to often Rafa either bought a dud or bought for the wrong position. To lose Keane, Crouch and Bellamy and replace them with N’Gog and El Zhar to back up Torres said a lot. To play Stoke at home with 2 holding midfielders and 1 up front said more. To compete for the league title last season but take Gerrard or Torres off when 1 up in the dying minutes only to blow the lead of a number of games instead of going for the kill and as a result end up drawing a lot of games which cost us a title says everything.

After a spell in which we scored for fun – 4 against Madrid, stuffed United and drew 4-4 with Arsenal – I hoped Rafa would kick on with a new positive outlook on the game coming into this season. It never happened.

I will fondly remember the good times in his early days but they ran out and now I look to the future. This is the first step, new owners should be the next.

  8. sp0t 0n SHASHI..0ur brainless american 0wners think rafa iznt g00d en0ugh..but inter is s0 much tempted by him..he will even get a significant am0unt 0f transfer kitty..i am sure he will d0 a gr8 j0b there..all da best rafa in ur lyf..in u ,i always trusted..its sad t0 c u g0..

  9. Does no one see his season was plagued with injuries? Yes he had a bad season but I’m still disgusted that people are happy about this, we’ve lost our one barrier between the cowboys and fans, and again is no one arsed about us flogging our assets now?

  10. I was shocked when someone text me about the news yesterday. He was happy but I was shocked. Now Rafa is gone, let us see whose coming next. What ever the outcome I will support Liverpool 100% next season.

  11. Steve, the season was filled with injuries and the biggest problem with injuries was Torres. When he went down there was no quality to replace him. We lost Keane, Crouch and Bellamy and replaced them with N’Gog and El Zhar. Johnson and Aqualani may prove to be good signings in time but that was a lot of money spent that could have brought in a Darren Bent type player. Oh well, it’s in the history books now.

  12. Gutted & Angry! Rafa’s been the best manager for we’ve had in the last 20 years. Thanks Rafa! YNWA! thanks for some of the best games I’ve seen in the last 35 years. It’s those money grabbin thievin yanks that should have got the push, thats what happens when you put a chelsea season ticket holder incharge. Now watch him sell off the rest of the family jewels to his own. SOS ‘King’ Kenny SOS!

  13. He has had one bad season and those idiots were looking for an excuse to get rid of him. Rafa was a master tactician in Europe and i think given the financial backing in the transfer market, and without the added pressure of the champions league next season may have seen us return to where we belong in the league. I geniuinley believed Rafa was the man for Liverpool. With him gone i worry about his successor, looking at the bigger picture our chairman is a chelsea fan and its no coincidence that our best outfield players are being linked with them!!! I say give the job to Kenny or maybe Jamie Carragher. Lets make the appointment from the inside with people who have passion for the club and not someone like Sven who is clearly in it for purley money purposes!!!
