Red’s World Cup Daily Round Up 17/06/2010

The seventh day of the World Cup in South Africa was a very good day four our Reds and their national teams.

In the first match of the day Maxi and Masch helped to beat South Korea and Sotirios Kyrgiakos played a commanding role as Greece made history, beat Nigeria and give themselves a chance of qualifying for the knock-out stages of the World Cup.

Argentina – South Korea 4:1

Our Javier Mascherano and Maxi Rodriguez played prominent roles as they featured for the full 90 minutes. Gonzalo Higuain gave the fans a huge reason to celebrate as he scored a hat-trick in an awesome style. Argentina now are almost certain to get into the last 16.

It was an exciting match and I do feel happy for our Liverpool boys. I also enjoyed to watch Diego Maradona giving huge hugs to his chicos. :-)

Greece – Nigeria 2:1

Liverpool’s No.16 played the full 90 minutes as the Greeks battled bravely to keep their last 16 hopes alive. Nigeria opened the scoring after 15 minutes when a free-kick from Kalu Uche. After 33 minutes they were reduced to 10 men and Greece took this chance to equalize. 20 Minutes from time it was Vassilas Torosidis who scored the winning and historic goal as it’s the first Greek victory in World Cup finals.

On the upcoming  Tuesday Greece has to face Argentina in the final group game. It will be exciting as our Anfield team-mates (Javier Mascherano, Maxi and Soto) will have to play against each other.

  1. One last thing, I dont consider Masch a Liverpool player anymore-not after his disrespectful comments about wanting to leave Liverpool, and the latest revelation that he and his agent are engineering a move to Inter. He is learning Italian for crying out loud-face facts he has played his last game for the club. Maxi is the only Liverpool player for Argentina
