Espana ole! The Iberian derby between Spain and Portugal ended with Spain going through into the quarter finals of the World Cup. The result my appear decent but it was a solid performance and Spain now can keep on dreaming of winning the title.

Spain – Portugal 1:0

Fernando Torres played just under an hour of the match as he continues his search for full fitness. Pepe Reina was watching the match from the bench.

Spain’s and Liverpool’s number 9 looked disappointed as he returned to the bench but the man who took his place almost had an immediate impact with a diving header which Eduardo saved. It was Villa who finally broke the deadlock on 63 minutes and once again scored the match-winner with his fourth goal of the tournament

Spain will now face Paraguay on Saturday for a place in the semi-finals after their penalty shoot-out win over Japan.
