Red’s World Cup Daily Round Up 07/07/2010

The second semifinal took place it Durban where Germany played Spain. It was repeat of the EURO 2008 final. There’s been only one goal and – no, it wasn’t Fernando Torres this time. It was Carles Puyol, the Barca defender also famous for his inimitable hairstyle. It was his 89 international match and third goal only. And this goal took Spain into the World Cup final 2010: For the first time ever.

Germany –Spain 0:1

Spain has been fantastic yesterday. They played like the Spain we know, Germany couldn’t get the ball off them. They were the better team on the pitch and kept pushing and squeezing and have had many chances to score. Manuel Neuer in the Germany goal did a good job but he didn’t save the one. Carles Puyol’s header did it.

Fernando Torres spent the match on the bench with his Liverpool team mate Pepe Reina until he was substituted in the 81st minute.

Congratulations Fernando, congratulations Pepe, congratulations Spain. I am glad they made it and I’m looking forward to the final where Spain will now face the Netherlands.

I think there’s still more to come from both teams and it’s is going to be a superb match, I’m sure about that. No matter who is going to win Liverpool FC will have two World Champions on Sunday: either Torres & Pepe or Kuyt & Ryan Babel. Isn’t that awesome?

Good luck lads!
