Why Not Dani ‘the killer’ Pacheco?

First of all I am very happy to be back writing as the world cup and economics of the club did not give me many words to write down, and thanks to Antoine for not ‘firing’ me, even though I vanished for three months….

Now, coming to rumors that Liverpool might well be signing a new striker in Huntelaar, Remi or I’ve also read the name of Kun Aguero and Diego Forlan in some places. All these strikers are no doubt very good and could make a big impact, if they come to our club. But with the clubs current financial situation, a possible 10 to 20 million fee for any of these front-men seems to be a bad option as we have other areas we need to improve.

The recent injury problems for Torres, made us seem longing for his replacement, and although David Ngog does provide a reasonable cover, he still needs to develop more before becoming a full time cover for a player like Nando. Having said that, we often tend to forget that we have (may be not World class) but proven strikers in the form of Dirk Kuyt, Milan Jovanovic and importantly in the context of this title, please have a look at the following stats:

1- A Proven Barcelona youth Talent. (we all know what that could mean)
2- Averaging a goal every two games for Liverpool Reserves.
3- An Astonishing 8 goals in 11 starts for Spanish Youth internationals.

Ok, scoring goals for reserves may not make all the headlines, but now DANI PACHECO has scored 3 goals for Spain U-19s in the last two games, with Barcelona rated so highly for their youth talent and the transfer window on its peak for youth hunt, I would not be surprised to see very reasonable bids for the Spanish Sensation the call ‘THE KILLER’. But I have a question, Is this what we buy young players for?

I think it is time we stopped saying that he needs to develop physically or he needs more height, as clearly he won’t grow another 15 inches at the age of 19. Clearly, the boy does have class, talent and skill that makes up for any physical lacking. We all know that if given enough time, he will definitely score as well.
His name would be echoing in the Spanish press this weekend and before Barca come back to bag their youth star or he himself realizes that he is better than the ‘reserves standards’ and moves on, it is time we pull out the best of his immense talents at Anfield and make him a regular in the first team ‘cameo players’.

YNWA!
