Huang wants to meet with S.O.S. & ShareLiverpoolFC

Posted by

In a statement issued today by SpiritOfShankly and ShareLiverpoolFC it was revealed that Mr. Kenny Huang would like to meet with representatives of both organisations when he (Mr. Huang) visits Liverpool.

Needless to say this is a very positive sign that Huang wants to hear the fans concerns, so far so good Mr. Huang.

Here is the full statement

Spirit of Shankly – ShareLiverpoolFC have been approached by the representatives of Mr. Kenny Huang who has restated his position as the representative of a serious bid for the ownership of Liverpool FC.

They have stated that Mr. Huang intends to be in Liverpool in the near future and he has asked to meet with representatives of Spirit of Shankly – ShareLiverpoolFC. They have said that the reason he wishes to meet with the supporters’ organisations is that the bidders see Spirit of Shankly – ShareLiverpoolFC as key stakeholders in the Club and the views of supporters are critical to the way they approach any deal.

They have made it clear that any discussion would be entirely without prejudice, in order to learn more about Spirit of Shankly – ShareLiverpoolFC, what the organisations want and to see if there are mutual areas of agreement.

We cautiously welcomed the approach and restated our position, made clear recently, that we are keen to engage with those charged with selling the Club and any credible potential purchasers. We recognise that the intentions of any potential purchasers need to be thoroughly examined prior to any purchase of the Club and involvement and discussion with supporters is key to that.

However, the Club, their agents and any potential purchasers need to recognise where the supporters’ organisations came from – they were born out of the betrayal by the current owners of promises they made when they purchased the Club and their action and behaviour afterwards.

In the same way that no potential purchaser will commit to any wish list from the supporters, Spirit of Shankly – ShareLiverpoolFC will not supply any endorsement to any potential purchaser without the most rigorous of examinations. This examination will include:

1. That they will be proper custodians of Liverpool FC recognising and never forgetting the unique nature of this Club;

2. That they invest proper equity into the Club to eliminate the current debt and to provide the funds to undertake the capital expenditure necessary to rebuild the Club including a solution to the stadium challenge and sufficient funds to allow the team to properly compete on the field;

3. That they are serious about engaging positively to seek ways in which the supporters are able to obtain an equity stake, with proper representation at Board level, within the Club.

We will keep you updated on any developments.

  1. THIS IS GOOD NEWS THOUGH, HICKS AND GILLETT AIM WAS A ONE SECOND RIP OF DEAL THAT THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD GET AWAY WITH. AT LEAST THE SO CALLED BIDDER FOR THIS GREAT CLUB HAS TALKED ABOUT A VISIT AND WANTS TO MEET WITH A GROUP ETC BEFORE HE BUYS THE CLUB, AT LEAST HE WATS TO KNOW WHAT THE FANS THINK AND WANTS ETC,,, COULD BE GREAT NEWS,, BUT LETS GET THESE TWO BOB BIT CON MEN OUT PLEASE,,,,,

  2. This is nice I guess, but for all S.O.S are fighting for; it doesnt matter. They are fans, and fans shouldnt really get a say. (kill me now..) I mean, c’mon, we all can’t even agree with eachother on what player is good and what player isn’t. For example, I think N’Gog is a really good player for his age. Yet there’ll be loads of fans who dont agree.

We all want the yanks out, that much is obvious. But these demands by S.O.S, particularly number 3 ‘That they are serious about engaging positively to seek ways in which the supporters are able to obtain an equity stake, with proper representation at Board level, within the Club.’ No other club has this representation. nor should we. We never wanted this ‘representation’ during the Moores Era

Supposing S.O.S get proper representation at board-room level for the fans, then what? Fans dont agree with fans, so its a pointless request.

S.O.S/fans won’t have a valid opinion at board level in my opinion. By all means S.O.S, fight the americans, the work you are doing is brilliant. Then if our new board is bad, fight them too. But for me, no, you shouldnt have representation on the board, nor should any fans, at any club.

    Shoot me now, people..

  3. Sprit Of Shankly does not represent my views and opinions and never will. For that James McKenna to now go looking for camera crews in a shirt and tie and express his views and opinions as if they are those of all reds is wrong. (the fact i cant stand him is another issue)
dont get me wrong, when the group was first formed it represented something we all believed in. However as the group has grown it has caused a lot of embarrassment with some of it’s statements and actions. SoS has not forced the sale of the club. Poor management and acumen by the owners and twitching arses in the banks has.

My major concern is that SoS will repel any potential buyers with their ridiculous statements and demands. I will not be suprised to see McKenna ask for a directors role.

  4. John, I do agree with you, I don’t think SOS should be part of the board, but I think it’s a good step that Huang wants to listen to the fans’ opinion.

  5. waiting for criticism is correct.

how dare these bunch of people make demands on potential buyers. We are at the stage of getting shut of the yanks, yet these morons will go about making demands before they put a firm bid in. SoS to this end are more harmful than the yanks.

we do not need fan representation. and again ‘waiting’ and John are correct. These people do not represent all fans opinions. I would rather have foster back on the board than one of this lot with their disgusting views, opinions and actions.

Finally, I thought I was the only one who thought that McKenna was a parasite. He’s a professional tit on tv now in his formal shirts and ties.

  6. Wow I’m so surprised, yet relieved to see someone agreeing with me! I was preparing for a backlash!

I really think S.O.S should end once the takeover has happened. They originally came out to fight against the awful ownership, but once that ownership is ended, S.O.S won’t have a purpose. I agree that I’m also concerned that rediculous demands from S.O.S could scare off any bidders.

Lets forge a new group rebelling against S.O.S :P (jokes)

  7. Why Should’nt fans have representation at board level? they would not be buying players as that is the job of the manager (or Purslow sic), they will not make team or tactical decisions again that is the job of the manager so why not have a fan on the board.

  8. S.o.S have been raising money to buy the club, so say Kenny Huang buys it, the S.o.S could give him the capital they raised for the club in exchange for a place on the board. Theres nothing wrong with fan representation on the board, and it will be in the best interests of the team in the end, consider Barcelona and their success.

John, while I see your point, and I agree making demands of only a potential buyer is a scary tactic they’ve employed here, they aren’t asking for every fan to be on the board, squabbling and fighting over every player, one representative for us, the fans, couldn’t hurt, could it?

  9. Yet they are still making offers of 40+ million for Fabregas? Honestly, I don’t see how debt is an issue of the fans, we don’t keep the books. Barcelona are winning, ManU are winning and they are heavily in debt as well. Maybe the more money you owe the more successful you are at this point.

  10. The ultimate aim is fan ownership.
    It could happen one day.

While I don’t agree with everything SOS stands for, they and SL are the only groups aiming for fan ownership out there.

To the Anti SOS crowd, what are you doing bar criticising on the WWW?

Do you prefer we are a constant play thing for rich businessmen and corporations whose real aim is to make profits?
