Gerrard, Torres, what about Reina?

Before going out to buy your new Liverpool shirts with Torres or Gerrard on the back, think about our goalkeeper Pepe Reina. A lot of Liverpool supporters don’t seem to take that much notice of Reina, and I believe he deserves more. When Liverpool were struggling last season, they were 7th place, they were in debt, Torres looked likely to leave, Pepe Reina stood up and said: I’m staying here.

Reina has been a hero many times for Liverpool FC

We are lucky to have a world class goalkeeper as Pepe Reina, and it would be hard finding someone more loyal than our goalkeeper.

Reina is one of the best goal keepers in the world, and to say that he wants to stay, even if Torres leaves, even if we get a new manager, deserves a lot of respect.

The keeper was signed by former manager Rafa Benitez from Villarreal in 2005 at 22 years of age and has won for Liverpool the Champions League in 2005 (As a substitute), the FA Cup 2006 thanks to his brilliant penalty saving, and the Community Shield against Chelsea in 2007. He has proved to be a brilliant goalkeeper, and a master at saving penalty kicks. He won the FA Cup 2006 against West Ham thanks to saving penalties in a shoot out, he helped Liverpool progress to the Champions League final in 2007, after being the hero of a penalty shoot out against Chelsea at Anfield. Reina also helped Spain to progress in the World Cup 2010 after telling team-mate Iker Casillas which way a striker would shoot the penalty, as Pepe had already faced him from the spot when playing Atletico Madrid.

Hopefully Pepe Reina will saty with the Reds for the rest of his career, which will hopefully be a lot more years from now.
