Kyrgiakos Confirms International Retirement

Sotirios Kyrgiakos has announced his retirement from international football with Greece, after 61 caps and 4 goals for his national side.

The big Greek centre half had recently represented Greece during this summer’s World Cup in South Africa. He missed out on the Greek’s famous 2004 European Championship victory due to a knee injury.

Speaking on his official website, the Liverpool defender said:

“The Greek National Team was one of the most important chapters in my career.”

“At this time I would like to close this chapter. I want to wish all the best to the Greek National Team.”
