The Guardian is reporting that Liverpool have signed Rual Meireles from Porto for £10.7m.

This news comes of out of the blue as no one was expecting it, if everything lines up then it should be an excellent coup by Roy Hodgson as he tries to finalise the signings before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Earlier today Skysports reported that the club had agreed with Fulham over Paul Konchesky’s transfer fee and that he is set for an Anfield medical this weekend.

Well, quite unexpected but a great signing. I hope he’ll be able to cope with the Premier league standards as soon as possible. Anyhow, we still need to get a replacement for Lucas as his family is also unable to settle in England. I’d like to see Flamini in Liverpool. Flamini can come to the Merseyside and Lucas can head to San Siro. Since the both of them are bench warmers half the time, I think that’d be a straight swap. Now, that’s solved. As for the left-wing, we should get Juan Mata. He’ll cost at least 8M++. Now, the midfield is settle. And as I’ve heard Konchesky’s on his way so the defence is also settled. Last on the list, a partner for Torres up field. Bryan Ruiz would be good but since we don’t have the funds, we can go for Wolfswinkel I guess. He’ll probably be the next Kuyt or even better.

with adebayor unhappy at city, i think we should do everything in our power to scoop him up. we need a big front man to power through defenders like richards, because he towered over ngog. adebayor is class and would be a fantastic partner as torres would have the finesse and creativity while adebayor is very powerful and would provide a great target on set pieces.
