Birmingham City – Liverpool FC (Sunday)

Posted by

On Sunday we travel down to St. Andrews to take on Birmingham City. Last season we tied both games against Brum so it is not going to easy however I believe we can collect all three points.

My feeling is that Roy will start Paul Konchesky as Fabio Aurelio is still injured and this will allow Daniel Agger to move back in the central defence position. Pepe Reina wants to bury the memories of the howler against Argentina and will be willing to keep a clean sheet. Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson both return from excellent performances for England so they are pumped up and ready to go. Roy has already said that Fernando Torres will start and following all the talk about Ryan Babel I have a feeling that the gaffer will opt to give Ryan a chance to partner with Fernando. I also believe that Roy will start summer signings Raul Meireles and Milan Jovanovic.

David N’gog is doubtful and quite frankly I don’t expect Roy to play him as it is sure that David will receive a hostile reception following the alleged ‘dive’ last season at Anfield. Joe Cole will serve his last suspended game while Dirk Kuyt is out injured.

Predicted Lineup
Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, Paul Konchesky, Milan Jovanovic, Raul Meireles, Steven Gerrard, Maxi Rodriguez, Ryan Babel, Fernando Torres

Kickoff 4PM BST

  1. I think thats the line-up we should have if we wanna go there for the win. Also hope Roy’ll give Pacheco 15 – 20min. Sure he knows its a big game and will come out firing…like in the Man Shitty game.

  2. agree with special k on that one .. Pacheo needs experience and he’s been one of the only players to truly show a sense of urgency when given a chance .. get that boy in there!

  3. With Dirk out for a while, Roy has to give Babel an extended run now, he’s said as much today, that this is his last chance. I like the lad and hope he takes his chance tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing Miereles too, we need him to make a difference. YNWA.
