ManUre 3 – 2 Liverpool

Ok, so that’s another defeat for us, but like the venerable Roy says football isn’t a sprint it’s a marathon so there is no point in sounding alarm bells just yet even though we only have four points from five games and could have been level on points with ManUre if we would have won the game.

Truth be told ManUre were probably the better team during the match (they certainly were in the first half we didn’t look like doing anything in the first 45 minutes) we came out all guns blazing in the second half and played much, much better (as seems to be our want at the moment) and managed to level the game after going two goals behind, but ManUre got another goal back and this time didn’t lose a late goal like they had done a few times this season already.

One major incident which might well have changed the course of the game was when John O’Shea bought Torres down for the free kick and should have been red carded but wasn’t. He then went on to provide the cross for Berbatov to get his third goal and the match winner. As far as I am concerned that should have been a red card by the letter of the law and not just because I am a rabid Liverpool fan and ManUre hater. Whether or not this would have altered the eventual outcome of the game is impossible to prove but the spud faced tosser should have gone for that irrespectively.

Nani was also doing his best Ronaldo impression and falling over every chance he got feigning injury left right and centre. This is disgusting and there is really no need for it in the modern game. Karma in the end saw the annoying twat go off with cramp later in the match!

In the end this wasn’t a great game for us, but we did manage to make a game of it in the second half, and it wasn’t as one-sided as a lot of people (and the press) will make it out to be.

We still need to do better though.

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Konchesky, Carragher, Skrtel, Gerrard, Cole, Maxi, Poulsen, Torres Substitutes: Jones, Agger, Kyrgiakos, Lucas, Jovanovic, Babel, Ngog

  1. I think the reason why he didn’t get red carded was because Torres was offside. So it wasn’t a ‘direct goalscoring opportunity’ or whatever. Still a nasty tackle. I agree with you 100% about Nani, he’s Ronaldo without the talent.
