Not about winning: just about playing !

Hello guys,

Again i’m watching our Reds facing Everton. And again our football is sad, boring and boldless. In fact, we’re still not playing football…

We are all happy to be only focus now on football. A new owner has come, and we all hope that he will bring back glory days of the club… But he can’t do everything, and reality is that we play a really poor football.

We’re still making ridiculous defensive mistakes. Our first passes in attack are still bad. We are not creating moves and actions. Our attacks are stereotypical and are easy for defense to cancel. Torres is still alone in attack.
Who is not eating his fingers when watching our Reds?

Hodgson say “we need time”: new coach, new players, new way? Let’s be realistics: since the start of the season, only two matches gave me smiling and hoping: Arsenal and Trabz at home. Only two…

The problem is that we don’t play football. In those times of trouble (and we all hope it’s over now), without speaking about winning, we could at least expect passion, spirit, desire of building a victory. But we only have seen that two times…

I know that blaming Hodgson, and only him, is easy and coward.

Players are responsible too. They are on the pitch, they have to play football. But the coach gives his plans, his way of seeing football. He’s there to make them a winning eleven, with his tactical and mental approach of victory…
Sometimes, when it doesn’t work, players are rebelling, and trying to “make” something else on the pitch. And when they make it, it already meens that coach has lost the dressing rooms. But those kind of reactions are very rare…

This afternoon, when you look our starting eleven, we’ve got 8 players who are used to play together. Only Konchelsky, Cole and Mereiles are new players…

How is it possible that with 8 on 11 we are not “playing” football ? Does it mean that Roy’s way is inhibiting our football, and frustrating our hopes ?

Players have now the choice to rebel and try to play an “other” football (and i think they will not because they respect the coach and his tactical approach). Whatever the chose, for my part, it only means that, after 10 games, Roy’s way is not what ne need…

The football we were expecting is not the the football we are seeing since the begining of the season. And even if we are not the club which use to fire his manager after 3 or 4 months, it’s the only solution now, before it’s late…

We want to win titles yes of course, we all know that the minima, on the pitch, is making us proud of our players. Because they wanted, because they tried, because they smelt passion, bold and team spirit all match long…

With Roy’s way, we don’t see that. He should go…

  1. Roy’s way of coaching is not Rafa’s way of coaching. Rafa took chances. Rafa had players who were not afraid to take chances. Roy is conservative. Conservative is not our game. Today’s game proved it. Last 10 min. That’s a glimpse of the Liverpool I fell in love with in 2000. The Liverpool that won the CL. The Liverpool who were a contender for the PL title 2 years ago. Roy may have been a great manager for Fulham, but not all your fingers look the same and not all the PL teams can be managed the same. We need a coach with a flair. We need a manager who is not afraid of taking chances, who is not afraid to push the team to its limits. We don’t need Rafa, we need someone who knows how Liverpool play. We need the King.

  2. denise,

i share the exact thoughts you do. i cant add any further to what you have just said. the problem is that the players don’t know what to do, where to play. it’s not an excuse we had alot of new players … what happened to the shape of the team??? it’s hodgson’s fault! no excuses

  3. Not happy with Hodgson at all. He crumbled under the aggression of Moyes´s team. He just wasn´t up to it and just seemed lost. No passion at all and the team didn´t respond. When he did make a change it was far too late.
All the players seem to be under performing and this can only be due to tha manner they are being managed. You don´t go into the derby like this.
BTW on the new players Konchelsky is a donkey and will always be one. He is always outplayed and Everton attacked down his side constantly.

  4. i totally agree. we played better football in the second half so players can play together.but roy tactics are not good enough for us and some players like lucas and rodrigues canot start attacking as in every ball is wasted when it reaches them.

ROY ISNOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR US

  5. Roy needs to go like yesterday. I can’t see them creating and scoring goals week in week out. A very disjointed team. Not pressing opponents up front, passes going astray or cut out by opponents, unable to win most of the second balls and players looked lost on the field at times.

Can’t depend on Gerard and Torres alone. Roy is just not decisive enough. Like the Everton game, he should be changing things around at half time not wait till the 70th min. He may be good at managing second echelon teams like Fulham but not Liverpool. By the way, if he is such a good coach, how come he has not won any major titles with his previous teams.

    Roy must go immediately!

  6. Oooow oooow!- are you a Liverpool fan??? Go away! I am one and I will admit that THIS IS LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB..at it’s worse. But I will keep the faith!

  7. “Players have now the choice to rebel and try to play an “other” football (and i think they will not because they respect the coach and his tactical approach).”

The players could try and rebel – they’ll most likely end up like Agger, who wants to play the ball out of defence. When’s the last time we saw him on the pitch?
