It might have been an historically week off the pitch for us, but it was the same old story on it with Everton fully deserving their win. The Merseyside’s Blues won 2:0 against us and what’s even worse, they were dominating the pitch throughout the match. Even though we had got 11 goal attempts, none of them ended with a goal. A disappointing afternoon. Even more because we were hoping to leave the relegation zone, but it came even worse as we’re now 19th. 19th!
For that reason the press conference was even more err, disturbing? Is it the right word? Odd? Wrong? I can’t find a word to describe what I felt while listening to the odd answers Roy was trotting out. There was a big question mark hanging above my head, exactly like in a cartoon. In fact, it all – on and off the pitch – appears to me like a bad movie written by a bad screenwriter and the actors … well, I leave it unspoken.
Roy Hodgson said: “I thought the shape of the team was good and I thought the quality of our passing and moving was good today.”
Pardon me? Were we watching the same match? As for me there was no moving.
He continued: “We had plenty of the ball in the second half and we were camped out in their half of the field in the final third for large periods.”
In my humble opinion we had plenty of the ball in the last minute. Only!
“I thought we caused them plenty of problems, but you’re never going to get the really clear one-on-one chances when teams are defending a two-goal lead.”
Where? Did I missed something?
“In particular today, one could argue with all the possession we had in the second half and the time we had in the final third, we should have scored because the possibility was there.”
Yeah, but when the possibility was there, the actors who were supposed to take care of the situation, and the ball, were waiting (God knows what for) and were staring at it! It’s not Play Station, you have to move your legs to score! Not only the thumbs.
Bla, bla, bla … what else has been said?
“The first thing we have to do is start playing and winning matches. Hopefully we can do that and get ourselves in a better position, then if the owners can find a way to back us and improve the team in the transfer window we will obviously do so.”
Oh! Well, look at that. We have to start playing. Nothing new, we all know that. Does the players know that? In my very humble opinion they should have been concentrated on playing football and not on fouling, pushing and waiting for God knows what.
On Thursday we’re playing Napoli. I am not sure If I want to watch the match. Does Roy have to go? Well, in my opinion it’s not a solution. Things won’t change instantly with new manager, because every manager has his own style, visions and a different manner to work. It won’t change like this. Oh yes, I know I am going to be lynched know, because you all want Roy to leave, but I do not want to repeat what already has been said and written.
Just play football like you were taught to, do your job, and it all comes good.
