Rafa’s milk and sugar, not bizarre at all [video]

Posted by

The whole British media is all over the place calling on Rafa’s “bizarre” rants with some claiming that he is obsessed with Liverpool.

First of all, Rafa’s last two press conferences involved many members of the British press who were there because Inter are playing Spurs in the Champions League. Rafa was simply answering their questions, he could have chosen to ignore them however he wants to defend his own record at L.F.C. and that is why he answered them, you and I would have probably done the same thing.

Second; in both press conferences Rafa makes perfect sense, however everybody focuses on the Spanish sayings that Rafa did a literal translation on. What Rafa said was is not strange or bizarre and anyone like me who has another native tongue (other than English) will totally understand. I find myself reverting to my native tongue when trying to get a point across. I can imagine if I was in Rafa’s shoes and translated a saying from Maltese like “Everyone has something to smell under their arm pits” the news headlines would probably read “Antoine doesn’t shower” or “Antoine’s arm pits smell”.

“White liquid in a bottle, milk”

“Priest on a mountain of sugar”

Y.N.W.A. Rafa, miss you dearly.

  1. Love it Rafa!
It had to be said. Our current manager keeps on blaming everything & everyone except himself – and keeps on having a dig at ‘Benitez’.
At least Rafa has the decency to call our English gentleman (sic!) Mr. Hodgson.

  2. “Cryptic Benitez turns on Hodgson” was the BBC’s title for their piece today about Rafa having a go at Roy. There is nothing “cryptic” about it what-so-ever. Rafa gave a few statistics about how much he sold and spent at Liverpool, before saying that Roy should stop complaining and focus more. What is so cryptic about it? Why are the media want to make Rafa look like a cloak and dagger character so much?
    I miss you too, Rafa.

  3. Rafa makes total sense in both those interviews yet this stupid and idiotic British Media who are ManU suckers will only try and make what he said as something bad. Roy Hodgson was the one that started the war of words with Rafa and yet people like Houghton says that Roy wont stoop down to Rafa’s level and return fire. The reason why Rafa is not at LFC is because of this British media who think that British managers are gods and untouchable and can do no wrong. LFC are where they are in the table not because of Rafa but because of ROY and ROY only.

My only wish is… John Henry to sit down with Rafa Benitez and have a chat about the club and players and where he sees everything going. If you want to do one thing correct is get everything straight from Rafa’s mouth instead of this stupid British media telling you lies about Rafa. Sack Hodgson now because Fergusons ass is missing Roys tongue…

Sick of this now. Should be concentrating on the team and not on you Roy. You have a team. Man up and deal with the players you have instead of complaining that Rafa left you with nothing and hence you are where you are.

  4. so can you explain what does “priest in the sugar mountain” mean? I am pretty sure the phrase was translated crudely from spanish or other native lang

  5. Right on. I hate this Rafa bashing, it’s such crap. He should be remembered as one of the top managers this club has had. He is right, he brought back pride to the club, that pride he brought back is why it hurts so much to see us doing so poorly.

Good on you Rafa. You’re a legend in my eyes!!

  6. @ Curtis: So you don’t miss Rafa? Maybe you are happy with the muppet we have now? Maybe you are happy that we were fighting relegation?

  7. Ping you asked ”what does ‘priest in the sugar mountain” mean?’

The way I interpreted it is that ‘Woy’ wouldn’t be able to see something if it was right in front of him! Priests who are always dressed in black and Sugar is generally white…would be easy to spot the priest in the sugar mountain!

  8. Rafa benitez is simply class! Big mistake sacking him.He is jus a human n human make mistake.. The new owner should bring him back and give him proper funding for world class players. Roy hodgson can never be compare with Rafa as far as i am concern.. WE MISS U RAFA!!! YNWA

  9. I really wish it had ened better but no, I don’t miss Rafa, the guy is a master tactitian but has zero man management skills.
    Hodgson does that is why I was optimistic, however just looking at some of the decisions he’s made very early on such as;
letting Aqualani go to a club that he probably will not return from, letting Dalla Valle go for next to nothing, I understand we needed a Left back to tide us over but the fact the he spent 4m and then Fulham bought an arguably better left back for less than half that fee

  10. World class my ass we won 2 things with in 5 years if you call that successful your an idiot we are Liverpool fc and we should be wining we were on Thor the prem till he fucked it up ranting at people

  11. Ping, it casically means someone cannot see the blatantly obvious. Priests generally wear black so sitting on a mountain of white sugar he would stick out like a sore thumb! I still can’t believe WOY brought in 9 players and is complaining about what he was left the fucking muppet. Please leave, thanks!

  12. SO bizarre, that a Manager Who spent last in year in charge crying for investements and “FIVE WORLD CLASS PLAYERS” (Rafa’s quotes) now He’s blasting his colleague and successor due to Roy’s claims about the overrated flops in the side…
    Rafa contradicted himself..

  13. Damn u miss u rafa. Such a great manager. He truly and utterly made our club amongs the one to fear. When the Champions leauge draws was to take place. Every club
Feared and wanted to avoid Liverpool. Barca, Real, milan, juventus, inter, chelsea all have gone down when facing Liverpool with the great Rafa at the helm. I truly miss you Mr Rafa Benitez..you made us stand tall. I am forever greatful.

  14. Rafa obviously is still in love with the club, however we need to move on as a club, things happen, we lose players and managers, maybe he will come back one day but we need to focus on the present YNWA

  15. Well said, Rafa.

It’s a shame Roy has cracked under the pressure and has taken it upon himself to hit out at anyone and anything that enables him to deflect the attention away from his own serious inadequacies.. whether it’s Rafa, his “B team” or those damned pesky scandinavians to name a few.

Roy, do the decent thing and resign. As you have clearly shown, you clearly do not understand what this club is about and subsequently are not qualified to represent it.

  16. What core Liverpool fan wouldn’t miss Rafa – I guess our new owner must be wondering what our board and previous owners were thinking of sending one of the world’s best managers packing. I guess Inter must be so grateful…

  17. rafa seemed to understand the club and the fans. he always loved the city as well. he was never afriad to talk about local events that effected the club. This is imprtant for LFC fans.
This understanding of what the club is about is something Roy will never understand. I have read much about Purslow and was never a fan. He DID not save us it was clearly the more powerful Boughton. Purslow sacked Rafa. Rafa has said it was NOT mutual and Persolw forced him out.
rafa was always against H&G but got on with the job and we were able to compete with the best clubs in the world.
if he was there now would he be crying and complaining no he´s be making his team stronger and not whinging when they are at the bottom of the table.
Whether you liked him or not Rafa respected what the club stood for that is the people who support the club

  18. rafa is right in everything in what he has been saying though. roy everything he has said in his interviews people dont no which games he has been watching because he thinks they have been playing brilliant especially in the derby. rafa was a good manager he made some decisions last season which i did question but the end of the day he is great manager the champions of europe dived straight on him when he herd he was out of a job and thats down to Hicks and Gillette . but he is the fans manager he cared about the club his compensation went to the Hillsborough fund and the family’s of the 96 he could get the players fired up for games he settled in Liverpool he didnt want to leave at all. roy needs to go before he makes anymore mess he isnt the man to take the club anywhere he got to the final of the europa and stopped fulhem gettin relegated when he first took charge. but u look at his other clubs blackburn he got them relegated he was at inter milan if he was good enough they would of kept him but he finished them 7th in there league and inter are a top 3 team in italy not a 7th place team, he has managed 594 games and only won 40% of them that is not a manager who is great enough to take us places. I was at the Blackburn game and we played well for 70 mins then the last 20 we was awful MOTD didnt show the last 20 mins because there all good friends with roy. my verdict is get him out. rafa did bring pride to the club the loudest nights at Anfield against Olympiakos, Chelsea and other European nights. The Kop and the other stands all sung together that alone made teams fear us now you go to the games and the atmosphere is subdued there is worry about are games the players dont have the confidence they use to have and other teams can see this and take big advantage of all this but thats roys job to get the players going but that I cant see happening.

    YNWA

  19. Rafa as we know him, always saying like it is and lying through his teeth, like Roy does. Facing the facts, that’s what Rafa is able to do, and Roy cannot learn.
Rafa was polite to answer the questions and afterwards the media blamed him. Who’s bizarre then????

YNWA Rafa. Still hoping you’ll come back someday.
